Page 108 of Love Triggered

“Great. I’ve got my buddy Roulette over there distributing weapons,” he says pointing to the back of the closest van. A large man with long blond hair and a lip piercing is handing out guns and clips like candy. Lya and Thiago must have migrated over there, because I see them taking guns too. This must be where Zep gets his love of weapons from.

“Ready to raise hell?” Manek asks.

I’m coming to get you, angel. Our connection is so strong, it feels like she's calling me even though she doesn’t know I’m here. I just have to get in there and find her.

“I’m ready. Let’s go.”

Lya, Zep, Thiago, Rian, Manek and I climb into one of the large vans with a few of Manek’s men, to head around to the back door. The rest of the Snakes will take the front entrance.

Manek drives the van down the long dirt road until the house finally comes into view. I feel my heart rate pick up, and my leg is shaking in anticipation. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. I’m ready to release my rage on these motherfuckers.

Manek pulls the van up about twenty feet outside the back door. Men start shouting and running out of the house, shooting at us. The sound of bullets hitting the van makes my ears ring.Thank god these vehicles are bulletproof, otherwise we’d be shot to hell right now.

We file out of the van through the door facing away from the house. Crouching against the van and using it as a shield, I sneak around the back, shooting around the corner and hitting one of Sutton’s men right in the chest. His body falls to the ground, and I duck back to my hiding spot.

When I go to peek back around again, one of Sutton’s guys is right there. He grabs the barrel of my gun, knocking it to the side while his boot goes in my stomach, making me double over.Fuck! He rips the gun from my hand completely and points his at my head. If I wasn’t still sore from getting knocked out earlier, this wouldn’t have happened.

This is not how I wanted to go out.My angel is right in there, she needs me.

The cold metal of his gun is now against my temple and his sadistic chuckle echoes through my head. I hope the others make it to her. If they can, she’ll be okay. They love her. They’ll help her through this.

I close my eyes, but all I hear is the faint click of the trigger. The blackness I expected doesn’t come. He’s out, the stupid fucker. I use this opportunity to get the upper hand. Lunging at the guy, I wrap my arms around his midsection, taking him to the ground. I waste no time, my fist hitting his face again and again, splattering his blood everywhere.Or is partly mine?I can feel my knuckles splitting open at the contact, but I don’t stop until he’s unconscious. The anger coursing through me is making it hard to stop.

Getting to my feet, I go and pick up my gun off the ground, turning just in time to see a man barreling towards me. Quickly raising the gun, I get a shot off, hitting my target in the chest. Once his body hits the ground, I’m back in a fighting stance, waiting for the next one.

I can see Lya on the other side of the van, fighting off some big ass man like she isn’t a 140 pound girl. Every single one of their men is being taken care of at the moment, so I have a clear shot to the house.

Or not.

My stomach drops when I see the man, peeking around the corner of the house like a pussy, pointing his gun right at Lya. She’s so focused on her fight that she doesn’t notice him, but I do. I can’t get a shot on him from this angle though. He hasn’t taken his shot yet, so he must be waiting for the perfect moment, waiting for her to stand still so he won’t miss.

I have to make a choice—take my straight shot to the house, or help Lya.

She and I might be at odds, and never really be close again, but I love Lainey and she’d be devastated if something happened to Lya. Honestly, I don’t want anything to happen to her either.

My mind's made up. I take off, sprinting towards Lya. She knocks the guy off his feet and follows him to the ground, landing punches left and right. Her final blow knocks him clean out. When his body goes limp, hers relaxes, thinking the threat is over.

“Lya!” I try to warn her, but it’s too late. Everything feels like it’s moving in slow motion trying to get to her in time.

I jump, stretching my body out in front of hers when I hear the thundering sound of a gunshot. A sharp pain tears through my left shoulder. I can’t tell if I was hit or if it was the impact from hitting the ground.

Please just let Lya be safe.

The coppery smell and wet warmth on my shirt tells me that I was definitely hit. Not to mention the searing pain radiating through my shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Zep take out the fucker that just shot me.

“Greyson! Oh my god! Shit,” Lya exclaims, as she rushes to my side.

Black and blue spots fill my vision.Damn, this hurts worse than the last time I was shot.

“Shit. Zep, go find Thiago,” Lya demands. “Greyson needs help.”

I don’t hear Zep say anything, but I know he’s gone. The sharp pain is ripping at me but it’s pushed out of my mind by thoughts of Lainey. I have to get to her.

“Don’t worry, Greyson. He’s going to find Thiago to help you,” Lya reassures me.

“I’m fine,” I insist, rolling over onto my stomach and pushing myself up on my knees with my good arm. Pain shoots through my shoulder at every little movement, but I have to keep going. She’s still in that house of horrors.

“Are you crazy? You just got shot. You’re not fine.”
