“Okay fine, baby girl. Only because you asked so nicely.” Rian breaks his concentration on the screen to give Lya a half-smirk. “Well, shit. Never mind, I’m out too. Looks like it's just you and Thiago.”

“Thi, we’ve got this! Let’s take these fuckers down.” Lya growls, getting way too into this game. Unfortunately, their plan doesn’t work since they’re heavily outnumbered.

Taking a break from the game, they finally turn their attention toward me.

“What’s up? Is everything alright?” Lya asks, concern in her eyes. I’m guessing she didn’t expect me to come back down tonight after that quiet car ride home.

“Oh, everything’s fine. Just wanted to see what you guys were up to. Also, wanted to see if you guys have come up with any more plans for taking Harvey down?” I shrug casually, acting as if talking about that place doesn’t affect me at all.

They all look at each other quizzically, obviously wondering what has gotten into me since I’m voluntarily asking.

“Don’t act like I just showed you a magical unicorn penis or something. I’m curious what you guys are coming up with—if you’re going to do this, I want to be a part of it. I know I’ve been reluctant to help, because honestly? It sucks to think about that place and all the things I was put through. But I need to do this for myself, and for the other girls in there. They deserve that much at least.” My voice is strong; I really am ready for this.

“We’ve come up with a few ideas so far, but we wanted to get your opinion on the one we think will work the best,” Zep says first before anyone else can talk.

“Okay, hit me with it, what’s this master plan?” I pull out the pillow that’s behind me and hug it in my lap, giving me something to squeeze onto, in case I get uncomfortable talking about all this.

Lya scoots closer to me, probably trying to give me comfort if I need it. “Like we mentioned the other day, we think we can draw him out by posting an online ad, indicating that we have girls for sale. The trafficking industry has primarily moved online—that’s how we were able to get an appointment set up with you once we finally got Sutton’s name.

“Once he takes the bait, we’ll meet him at a specific location to apparently pick up the girls, but instead we’ll take him and whoever he’s with by surprise. Then we’ll get him to admit to everything he’s done while secretly recording it, giving us enough to hold over him as blackmail.”

Their plan doesn’t sound bad, but I’m honestly not sure it’ll work. The idea of Harvey giving up any information seems unlikely.

“What’s that look for? You don’t think it’ll work, do you?” Rian’s voice is calm, like he thinks I’m fragile on the subject of Harvey.

“It’s not that I don’t think it’ll work, but how do you know he’ll even see the advertisement in the first place? How do you know he doesn’t already have a trusted supplier?” So many thoughts are running through my mind about how badly this could go.

If anything happened to them, I’d never forgive myself. I’d rather go back and fight Harvey on my own if it meant keeping them safe from it all. No matter what, this is going to have to be very carefully planned. Harvey might not be the brightest, but he’s slimy as hell. He also reeks of pure evil and is the shadiest person I’ve ever met, so I wouldn’t put it past him to do something insanely dangerous if he’s backed into a corner.

“Well, we already know he probably doesn’t have the same supplier. Greyson admitted to Lya when he kidnapped her that he’d completely stopped the business once he found her—thinking she was you, obviously. So if Harvey had been getting girls from Greyson, that takes care of the trusted supplier part, as I doubt he’d have that same solid relationship with anyone else this soon,” Thiago says casually, but just the mention of Greyson’s name causes my heart rate to spike… and my pussy to clench, as a reminder of what I did before coming down here.

Thiago continues, oblivious to my reaction, “Rian and Lya will design the advertisement to be specific to what Sutton would be looking for. You’ll know what kind of girls he buys, what he looks for in them, and how many he would want so we’ll need you to tell us that. As for the fake pick up location, we can easily get an abandoned warehouse or something off the grid organized.”

His eyes are soft and caring as he watches me. He’s always so protective of me, almost like an older brother. I can tell he’s worried how this is affecting me, but I’m honestly fine right now. Maybe it’s because I’m distracted by Greyson, or maybe it’s because I’m finally ready to move on and get my revenge.

“Okay, but one thing first. I just want to be clear for a second, because you’re all acting like I’m made of glass. I’m okay, honestly. If I’m not comfortable with something, I’ll tell you, but please stop acting like I’m going to break at the mention of Harvey. I can see it in all of your faces, but I promise I’m fine.”

Yeah, this isn’t fun, but if they’re constantly worried about how I’m going to handle things, then the plan might not run smoothly—and I refuse to let that happen.

Lya frowns. “We don’t think you’re fragile, Lainey. We just don’t want to force you to relive any trauma. We’ll try to stop acting like that if it’s what you want.”

“I’d like that. Thank you guys for being concerned, but I’ll be okay doing this. Now, let’s get down to it. Tell me everything you need to know.”

Just like that, my mind finally takes a break from the all-consuming thoughts of Greyson, to focus on what Rian calls Operation Cuttin’ the Sutton.

Well, as much of a break as my mind can take from Greyson Nash.

Ipatiently wait at the end of the old, dusty bookshelf for Lainey to make her way toward me. She pushed me away yesterday, but she’s here again today. I guess that means she didn’t tell Lya about me. Those vultures would never let her come back alone if they knew the truth.

She didn’t tell them. Does that mean I have a chance?

She looks so beautiful in her bright yellow shirt and black jeans, which hug her hips just right. Who am I kidding—this girl would look good in a paper sack.

When she’s distracted by a book, I round the corner toward her. She’s so captivated by her task, she doesn’t realize it’s me. The way she looks so happy inside this building makes me want to take a mental image and remember it forever. It’s clear this place is special to her.

Coming to a stop behind her, I tap her gently on the shoulder. She flinches a little in fright, and her back goes ramrod straight, but she quickly turns.

“How can I hel—” Lainey’s voice trails off when her eyes meet mine. She takes a step back in shock, bumping into the bookshelf. “What are you doing here?”
