The corner of his mouth raised and I was treated to that dimple of his.

“I was going to ask if you wanted me to come in?” He rubbed the back of his neck, which made him seem almost embarrassed to ask.

I wanted to giggle at Grant Dawes sheepishly asking to come into my apartment when he simply invited himself over every other time.

I opened my door wider and grabbed his hand to pull him in, and he slammed the door shut behind me.

Before I could recognize what was happening, Grant had me pulled to him with his arm around my waist.

His lips reached mine in a frenzy and I held on to him as tight as I could, scared to let this kiss go.

He pulled me away from the wall and stumbled down the hall to my bedroom. I felt embarrassed about the clothes that were flung across the room from searching for an outfit earlier this morning, but he seemed too distracted to mind. My head was spinning, and I felt dizzy from his passionate kisses.

His wet lips pulled away from mine and I quickly sat up, reaching for him to come closer. He placed his hands on mine, stopping my movement.

“We’ve got all night, Hart.”

I smiled brightly at him, letting go of all other thoughts and anxieties.

He caught my bottom lip between his thumb and pointer finger. “That smile… it’s going to be the death of me.” That only made me smile harder as he leaned into me.

Without another worry in my head, I knew he was about to give me a night I would never forget.

My evening with Grant was almost as lovely as my entire day with him. We had eaten dinner- when we eventually decided to leave the bedroom. And afterward, he flipped through my vinyl records, picking up one after the other until he found his favorites.

With music softly playing in the background, we danced. Grant’s hands on my waist and mine on his neck, we danced in my kitchen, simply wearing his T-shirt and my bare feet tracing the cold tile. I was a terrible dancer, mostly because I was completely uncoordinated, but he never seemed to mind. Grant would twirl me around and pull me back to him, swaying me in his arms and whispering sweet compliments in my ear.

I wanted to laugh at myself, at how stupid I must have been to fall for Grant Dawes. I could have let my mind wander there all night, thinking of questions like; How can he hold me like this but us not be together? Or Will he ever want anything more with me? But instead. I danced till I was tired and sore.

I sat with Grant on my couch, only wearing his long T-shirt and holding a pint of ice cream with a spoon in my hand. My bare feet were placed on his lap and his hands were stroking them softly.

The romantic comedy played on the TV in front of us, we watched the characters dance around their feelings for each other and witnessed the male main character catching glances at the girl.

“Why does he keep doing that?”

He referenced the TV playing in front of us. The specific romantic comedy was one of the few things I could watch over and over again. I told him it was this or Top Gun, to which he replied Top Gun and I played this anyway.

He didn’t seem to mind too much though, considering he was grinning over at me when I hit play.

I quickly learned one thing about Grant, he was one of those people who asked questions every few minutes throughout a movie.

He could make fun of me all he wanted by asking him questions about work, family, and friends, but when it came time for him to watch a new movie, the man became a walking game of Twenty Questions.

“Because he’s in love with her,” I answered once again.

He shook his head, his eyes never leaving the TV. “Nah, he’s with the other blonde.”

I held in my giggles. “No, he doesn’t know he’s in love with her yet. It takes him a while to figure it out.”

Grant turned his head to me. “So he loves Jennifer Anniston then?” I nodded back to him and placed the ice cream on my coffee table.

“Yeah, I mean look at him.” I watched the movie play, seeing Adam Sandler watching her character from across the room and smiling dearly at her.

Turning back to Grant, his eyes were still placed on me and his lopsided grin was facing me. He put both hands on either side of my waist and pulled me into his lap.

Whispering softly, he said, “He never stood a chance.” We had both forgotten the movie playing in the background, focusing solely on each other’s bodies.
