Austin held his hands out supplication.

“I haven't started this campaign, but I plan on getting on it right away. I think the people deserve the truth.”

“Austin would you stop joking we have a problem.”

“OK what do you think the problem is?” he said realizing that he wasn't going to be able to distract her from the issue.

“The problem is that this is a very small town. we went ahead and announced that there's going to be a show but wasn't as clear as we needed to be. I have several people who have come up to me to say that they think they would be a great fit for my child because they wear the things I make.”

“Okay/” Austin realized he was missing something in this conversation.

“What I'm trying to say is that we have already chosen who is going to be in the video. having to tell people no puts me into a very uncomfortable situation. I know these people and I don't want to be in that uncomfortable situation.”

Austin watched Sasha put her magazine down and then look directly at him.

“So, the real question is have the both of you been recruiting for the video?”

Claudia answered before Austin could say a word.

“I think that lots of townspeople think that it's open and that they have a chance of getting their children or themselves in it. I think that if we let them know how we actually chose these or that it was over that I wouldn't have to run into some very uncomfortable situations at the supermarket or when I'm on the street. People suggest that they are free or that they have a child who would be a great fit. I don't like a lot of people jumping in front of me for anything much less something that's already decided. It's uncomfortable. I don't do uncomfortable.”

Austin looked at both of the women I realize he had to go ahead and make this right.

“How about I will put up a post outside of the building and in the daily paper saying we've already chosen everyone for our videos and that all of those requests need to come to me. if we put me at the point of contact then you won't have to deal with it. Deal?”

“Okay,” Claudia said in a lighter voice. you could tell she had come prepared to fight.

“I think that this kind of situation makes it very clear that we need someone to organize all of the moving parts. I think that person should be you Claudia.”

“Me?”

“I'm just saying you seem to have your hand on the pulse of what's going on in town and also on what we're doing.”

“Hmmm I think you're just trying to get out of having to face all of the single women in town,” Claudia fired back.

Austin smiled a little wider.

“It doesn't make a difference how many of them are see I'm only interested in one woman in this town. I'm just waiting for her to give me a chance.’

Claudia looked at him as if he had lost his mind.

“Your incorrigible.”

“But the real question is does that make me more charming?”

Claudia smiled and shook her head.

“Fine I'll organize everything. and by the way if you were any more charming we would have little babies crawling to meet you as well as single mothers waiting for you to walk by.” Claudia said as she got up and left out of the office. when she was gone Austin looked at Sasha.

“You think I'm making any headway?”

Sasha laughed and walked out of the office. the only thing Austin heard from her were the murmurings that she walked by saying kids they always want to do things the hard way.
