“You over there texting Starla already?” Gabe asks teasingly, his hand moving from the steering wheel to wrap around one of my feet.

I groan in appreciation as his thumb kneads my swollen arch and extend my leg so he can massage me more efficiently.

Gabriel chuckles. “They hurting already?” he asks. “The day’s barely begun.”

“Don’t remind me,” I moan, closing my eyes as I lean my head back.

“Well, if you want, you can sleep the whole way,” he offers.

“You’re too good to me.” I smile, fully intent on catching some shuteye now that he’s mentioned it, and before long, I’ve drifted off to sleep.

It’s getting dark by the time we finally pull up to our tiny Whitfield house, and I peer excitedly out the window as I take in our new home. I haven’t seen it since the first showing, since Gabriel’s the one who came to the closing, and I’m buzzing with excitement to get inside and see it fully empty.

Gabriel pulls into the driveway and throws the truck in park, and we both clamber out.

“I’ll unload,” he offers. “You start settling in.”

Tossing me the keys, Gabriel turns to the truck bed, and I scurry up the front porch steps to unlock the house. Inside the door, I pause, taking it all in for a moment. It smells nice and clean, the old owners having left it in nice condition. Something I’m immensely grateful for, seeing as I can smell just about everything these days. And after months of morning sickness, anything clean is a godsend.

The space still looks small, even without furniture, but it won’t take much fixing up. The kitchen could use a facelift and perhaps the bathrooms. Get some new carpet in eventually, though that doesn’t have to happen right away. Smiling, I make my way down the hall, peering into the rooms that will serve as the nursery and guest bedroom. Finally, I stop at the master bedroom, stepping into the space to really take it all in.

This is ours, mine and Gabriel’s. A space of our very own to start a new life and raise our family. I absolutely love it. The bedroom door bangs against the wall as Gabriel hauls a large box through the doorway, barely fitting past the threshold.

Setting the box against the far wall, he pulls out the canvas fabric of an air mattress Starla lent us until we can get a bed.

“I’ll get that set up,” I offer.

“Thanks.” Gabriel sets it against the far wall below the window. Then he presses a kiss to my forehead and heads back into the hall to bring in some more boxes from the truck.

Kneeling, I take a look at the apparatus, suddenly unsure of what I’m doing. I’ve never even seen an air mattress before, let alone blown one up.But how hard could it be?After far too many complications and huffing with frustration, I finally get our bed to inflate. Then I dig around in the box until I find our sheets and blanket.

By the time the bed’s made, and Gabriel’s brought in all our boxes, it’s pretty late. Whipping up some ramen in our new kitchen, we eat straight out of the pot so we don’t have to unpack the dishes tonight, and we lean against the counter as we share.

“I’ll take the truck back tomorrow and ride back up on my bike,” Gabriel says.

I nod. “I can unpack and get things a little more organized,” I add.

It’s too late to do little else but go to bed, but first, Gabriel and I wander through our house together, talking about what our plans are for each room. As we enter the bedroom across the hall from the master, Gabriel pulls me into his arms, so my back rests against his chest.

“And this will be the nursery?” he asks.

I nod against his chest, a smile spreading across my lips. Gabriel’s hands wander down to my tummy, and he cups my baby bump. Humming with contentment at the sign of affection, I place my hands over his, holding our baby together. Tipping my head back, I look up into Gabriel’s eyes, and he leans in to press a kiss to my lips.

My pulse quickens as our kiss grows more intense, and slowly I turn in his arms, my hands moving up to comb my fingers into his hair. Gently, Gabriel eases me onto my back on the floor. Bracing on one elbow as he lies beside me, he continues to kiss me sensually, his tongue twining with mine teasing my lips. His hand slides beneath my shirt as his palm rests on my tummy.

“I’m going to put so many babies inside you that we’ll fill this house up,” he murmurs.

A shiver of excitement raises goose bumps on my arms. “I like the sound of that,” I breathe.

“I’m going to fuck you in every room,” he adds as his hands deftly start to undress me.

“Mmm,” I sigh. “Tell me more.”

“I’ll take you in our shower, on the bathroom counter. Our bedroom, of course. Up against the hallway wall. I’ll fuck you on the kitchen floor and our dining room table—”

“Once we get one,” I qualify, and Gabe chuckles.

“Yes, once we get one. We’ll have to find something sturdy because I plan on strapping you to it and fucking you hard.”
