Ben took a sip of his beer. “Why are you so focused on the Triton? We still have a few other properties to see here, but to be honest, I don’t think our company is big enough to get a foothold in Santorini.”

“We agreed to explore all our options. The favela project in Brazil was wonderful, but we invested too much of our own money. Winning the Triton contract will grow our profile and our ability to raise cash.” It was a solid plan, and one that would hopefully sustain them if he wasn’t successful at the board meeting.

“Okay, Leo, but it might be easier to get financing if we stay in the UK.”

Leo looked out to the sea. Everything Ben said was true. It would be safer to stay in the UK, but something gnawed at him. He didn’t want to recreate another flashy hotel like the Kronos. The Triton could be notable for its intimacy. “I still want the Triton.”

“You’re serious?”

“Yeah. It’s the ideal property to make a statement that our company is different than anyone else’s.”

“It’s more like a boutique hotel. Fewer rooms means less profit.”

He leaned forward, saying to Ben, “You’re wrong. There are fewer rooms, but every room will be a suite and provide the customer with an indulgent experience. That’s exactly what the Kronos lacks. It’s too big and impersonal.”

Ben’s phone pinged with a text. “Excellent,” he said with a satisfied nod.

“What’s up?”

Ben looked up from the phone, his eyes full of excitement. “Stavros Angelos agreed to meet with us later this afternoon.”

“I’ve got a good feeling about this.” Leo clinked glasses with his friend. “Cheers.”
