Not searching for love with my brother’s best friend.

“Yes, she told me to pack. She’s coming by tonight to talk about when I can get some work done. What do I even pack?”

“Harper, this is amazing!” Madison squealed, throwing her arms around me.

“What’s all this ruckus?” Colton’s Grams appeared in the doorway, then made a beeline for the plate of cookies on the island. “You sound like two hens squawking in here.”

“Harper is going to be on TV.” Madison beamed, her arms still wrapped around me.

“Fancy.” Grams winked at me before biting into a cookie.

“I can’t do this.” Nausea rose in my belly, and I stood.

“Yes, you can.” Madison shoved me back down. “No one said you have to marry Flynn.”

“That’s exactly what the point of this show is, Madison.Exactlythe point.” I sucked in a deep breath of air, suddenly feeling overwhelmed and confused.

Tall, handsome, athletic, broody, charming, smolderingFlynn Jackson.

She waved her hand at me. “Nobody gets married on this show. He just has to propose.”

Perfect.

He’ll get down on one knee, look up, with a vintage ring in his hand…

Was it too late to call Laurel back and make up an excuse?

Madison’s words flashed back through my mind:Stay behind the scenes where it’s safe, watch Flynn pick somebody else, and you can live happily ever after with your plants and your cat.

I didn’t want any of that.

Determined to make a decent enough impression to stay in the running long enough to make a difference, I glanced up at Madison.

“I have tonight to pack. What do I wear?”

“Oh, don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

“He’s seen me before. We just saw each other last night.”

“Not onLove in a Small Town, he hasn’t. If you’re going to sell this, we want him to see a whole different side of you. You’ve got one chance for that first impression, and you’re going to knock his socks off.” Madison rubbed her hands together.

If the Cheshire Cat smile spreading across her face was any indication, I needed to be worried.
