The feel of his lips on mine comes out of nowhere, the memory hitting me like a freight train. I can feel his hands on my body, and a voice in the back of my mind—a different one than I’m used to—reminds me just how lost I would be without him.

* * *

Music hammersme from all sides as I step into Eira’s club. The siren is notorious for allowing different factions to gather together, free of judgment from the council. Not that they seem to care anymore.

Rainey and Elijah met when he was a vampire, and they were not punished.

Jack—when he was alive—was with Willa, a shifter.

And then there is Delaney and Cole. A witch and a shifter.

Shaking my head, I move straight for the bar and hold up my hand for the bartender. Needless to say, the council—if they’re even still alive—are about to have a hell of a lot more to worry about than inner-faction relationships.

Mainly because they’re going to be far too focused on keeping me from ripping them apart.

“What can I get you, gorgeous?” A man with spiked yellow hair and eyes blazing sapphire leans across the bar. His leather vest showcases cut muscles, more like a runner than a football player.

“Something with a lot of alcohol.”

He winks. “You’ve got it.”

While I can’t get a full read off of him, I’m guessing he’s somewhere in the realm of an incubus. The males are incredibly rare, mainly because the females will eat them if given the opportunity. They’re also incredibly dangerous, even more so than the females. Which makes this asshole perfect for easing some of my tension.

I open my mouth to say something to him, something that will lure him in, but before I can get a word out, the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. I’m no longer alone.

“Bronywyn.”

Speaking of…I turn, leaning back against the bar and facing off with the siren who owns the place—and her pet fae, Fearghas. “What can I do for you two?”

“Why are you here?”

“I needed a drink, and in case you didn’t hear, Tarnley’s pub shut down.”

“Here you go, love.” The bartender slides up behind me and sets the drink down, so I pull a hundred from my bra and hand it to him.

“Keep the change.” Grabbing my drink, I turn back toward Eira. “Is there a problem?”

“Not yet.” Her bright violet eyes narrow on my face. As far as the supernatural Scooby gang the Astor sisters have assembled is concerned, Eira is one I would not want to go toe-to-toe with. Since sirens can drown you in your own saliva, it’s never a good idea to fuck with them. At least not unless you have a way to dry them out. Which, unfortunately, I do not at the moment. “Keep it peaceful in here, or I will have you removed.”

“We’ve never had a problem,” I tell her.

“We didn’t.” She casts a glance at Fearghas, and I know she’s silently referring to me nearly killing him in Tarnley’s apartment the other night.

“Keep your fae out of my business, and I won’t have a reason to hurt him.”

“Then stay the fuck away from Delaney and Rainey,” Fearghas growls. “Dark witch or not, I will put you down. You’re beyond redemption.”

“Oh, honey,” I say with a grin, before downing the drink. It’s sweet on my tongue, the liquor rushing through my system like a tidal wave. “I haven’t even begun to show the Astor sisters what I’m capable of.”

Fearghas lunges for me, but Eira lightly touches his shoulder, and he leans down so she can whisper something in his ear. “Fine.” He snaps back, and I wink at him.

“Good boy.” I never disliked Fearghas. Honestly, the guy’s loyalty was always refreshing. But since he’s one of two current threats to my state of existence, I’ve firmly moved him to the top of the ‘avoid at all fucking costs’ list. And if I can’t avoid him, I’ll be forced to neutralize him.

Him and the rest of the damn group.

Yes. Now you’re thinking like a queen.

“Look. I have no beef with you, Eira. I came here for a drink tonight, that’s all.”
