The fae pinches the bridge of his nose. “Fine. I will go in with Fearghas. But if she tries to kill me, we’re gone, and your girl is as good as dead. Deal?” Dropping his hand, he glares back at Rainey. Then shifts his focus to Delaney. “I’m beginning to ask myself why I approached you at that auction house.”

“Because as much as you want us to think otherwise, you are a good man.”

Shifting my gaze to Fearghas, I take a deep breath. “I know it’s risky and that it’s asking a lot. But if you can save her—”

Fearghas reaches out and clasps a hand on my shoulder. “If it was the woman I love on that table, I would do anything to save her. There is no way I am willing to walk away when there might still be something I can do.” He turns to Delaney. “I’ve done the same for you.”

“Somethingwecan do,” Ridley interjects. “Hero number two over here.”

Delaney’s bottom lip quivers, so he releases me and hugs the Astor who has never had any issue showcasing her emotions. Unlike the younger one standing beside me, though she looks like even she’s losing a battle to keep them inside.

“You damn well better come back, Fearghas,” Delaney says. “Both of you.”

“Yeah, yeah. Tell your mate he still owes me a poker game when I get back. This does not count as my admitting defeat.” Ridley winks at Delaney.

She grins. “Understood. But you know he’s just going to think you were too afraid after what happened last time.”

If I were in a different headspace, I might give two shits about what happened last time, but right now, my only focus is getting Bronywyn safe.

Rainey clears her throat and steps forward. “Don’t die in there. Or I will find another fae to take me to the veil, or wherever it is you go when you die, so I can kick your ass.”

“Love you, too, baby Astor.” He turns to Ridley. “Shall we?”

“Venture into a dark, twisted mind where we may or may not end up trapped for all eternity? Sure, why the hell not?” Before anyone can say anything else, Ridley reaches forward and grabs Fearghas’s shoulder. Then they vanish from sight, leaving us all staring at an unconscious Bronywyn, helpless to do anything but hope for the best.

I step forward and rest a hand on her forehead. Then, I lower my head and press a kiss to her temple before whispering, “Come back to me, baby.”
