“We will be right outside. If we hear those wards breach, we’re coming in after you,” Fearghas promises.

“I wish you would let us come. I can hit a target with the best of them.”

“We need you to prep the clinic,” Eira tells Winnie. “We don’t know what kind of shape they’re going to be in when we do get them back.”

The older woman glances at Ivan, who reaches over and squeezes her wrinkled hand with his. Then, she turns back and squares her shoulders. “We will be sure it’s stocked and ready.”

“Did you bring the com units?” Fearghas questions, and Paloma nods toward a black duffel she brought in.

“Right in there. We will be in constant communication.”

Her husband retrieves the duffel and drops it on the table beside the bullets.

Felix grabs an extra box and sticks it into his pocket, and Deissy does the same, shoving them into a small black backpack he had with him when he showed up.

“Ready?” Eira asks.

“Yes,” Deissy replies. “Or at least as ready as I’ll ever be.”

“You damn well better come back, woman,” Harrie grabs Paloma by the waist and yanks her toward him, taking her mouth in a passionate kiss that makes the rest of us feel like intruders.

“I’m far too stubborn to die,” she says with a grin. He slaps her ass, and together they head out the door and toward the black SUV Eira brought with her.

Mags starts to move past me, but I grip her hand, not releasing until we’re the only two in the house. “What is it?”

My heart thunders as I stare back at her, unsure why I wanted to keep her at my side a moment longer. Her gaze briefly flickers down to my mouth, so I take a chance and lean forward, kissing her gently on the cheek. I linger there, breath hot against her face as I breathe in the floral scent that is so perfectly her.

Delicate, with a hint of spice.

Her breath hitches, sending my already raging adrenaline into overdrive. “Survive,” I whisper.

“You, too.”

I pull away and brush a strand of hair from her face before moving out through the door and heading toward the SUV.

As soon as we’re all inside, Fearghas glances back from the driver’s seat. “Ready to go?”

I nod. “Let’s go get our friends back.”
