To my complete joy, she and the other council members jump back in fear as more continue to form a line in front of us, moments before shifters of all kinds—bears, wolves, massive felines—run forward, stopping just behind them.
Brad comes to a stop beside me, and I beam up at him. “Excellent timing.”
He winks. “You did ask for an army.”
Even as we speak, more rush out. My heart all but bursts with joy as tears fill my eyes. Although I knew we weren’t alone, seeing these supernaturals ready to fight—and die—alongside us sends new hope blossoming in my chest.
We needed a spark. What we got was an entire fucking firestorm.
