“Do you really think splitting up is the best idea?” Rachel questions.

“It’s brilliant,” Nat says, her tone betraying nothing but respect for Rainey. “They’ll never see it coming, and none will have the chance to relocate once they realize we know exactly where they’re hiding.”

“As of now, they don’t realize I’m here at all.”

I turn to my father. “You really believe you know where they are?”

“I do. And with the fae’s help.” He pauses and turns to Ridley. “We can get there quickly and wait for everyone’s confirmation that I’m right before moving in.”

“And what about Odette?”

Rainey turns to her sister. “That’s where you come in, Del. You, Cole, Fearghas, and Eira will be part of the team that remains here. You’ll keep an eye on the building—let us know if anything changes. Then, you wait until we get back, and we all move in at the same time.”

“And if she does have the ability to leave without our knowledge?” Fearghas questions.

“We keep an eye out,” Rainey replies, “watching each other’s backs just in case. All we can do is plan for the worst and hope for the best.”

“When she realizes what we’ve done, she’ll run,” Clarance says. “And if she does, she will be leaving the safety of the building and giving us a chance to take her out.”

“Which we will be ready to do,” Delaney replies.

“She’s not like anyone else you’ve faced,” Nat warns. “Odette is a hell of a lot more powerful than Lucy because she has loyal followers. People who are willing to die for her, not because they fear her, but because they believe everything she’s ever told them. They respect her, and loyalty earned by respect is a hell of a lot more potent than anything earned out of fear.”

Paloma clears her throat. “If she gets away, we will likely never get another chance.”

“Then we don’t let her get away.” Cole lets out a breath.

“Great. Do you have a list of their locations?” Rainey asks my father.

He reaches into his pocket and withdraws a notebook. “Right here.”

Rainey stares at the small black notebook in his hand. “You literally have a little black book.”

“I do.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who, literally, had one.”

He chuckles. “I don’t trust technology.”

“Good move. Anyone else want to put together teams? I feel like I’m doing all the talking.”

“I will split my group in two. I can take half, and Anthony can take the other half.”

“We all need to take our own team. So I’ll take one, you take one?” Rainey asks Elijah.

“I don’t like the idea of us splitting up.”

“Neither do I, but I also don’t like the idea of putting anyone outside of this room as a lead.”

Elijah dips his head in understanding. “Then I will take a team.”

“Same here,” I offer.

Tarnley reaches over and threads his fingers with mine. “Same.”

Ridley stands. “I’ll take a group—and we need to make sure each team has a fae with them.”

“That gives us eleven teams, right?”
