“Yeah, Hec, she’s worth it. Besides, her mother is friends with mine and you know ma would have our balls if she found out I didn’t help Dice.” That’s not why I want to protect Dice but it’s no less true. My mother, Joann Alonso, is a crazy Latina who can bring any man to his knees. Especially her boys.

Hector laughs knowing I’m right.

“Alright, carnal."Brother. "Keep this quiet. In the meantime, I want you to put some security cameras at Dice’s apartment within the next hour. Brian will be picking her up from work this evening, but I’ll be in a meeting with the Vegas King.”

"Alright, Mero. I'll get the cameras set up. Anything else you need me to do?"

"Find out where Julian is buried."

Once we hang up, I dial another number as I start the engine. With one last look inside the coffee shop, I see my girl working the machines with the same glassy look in her eyes that she had in the alley.

I'm a sucker for her and that's fine with me. I found what I want and I'm not sure I can give her up. Not until I’ve had a taste of her, at least.

"Brother!" My sister's voice sounds winded and I can hear other holiday shoppers in the background. Letty and my mom decided my penthouse needs a woman's touch for Christmas and have taken it upon themselves to make it more festive. It makes my skin crawl if I’m honest. I like my things clean and uncluttered.

"Hey, Lett. I need you to pick up a few special things for me. Call Brian so he pick the items up when you’re done."

"Oh? And who might these special items be for?"

I chuckle at that; she's been on my back for years to find myself a woman.

"Special items for a special someone."
