CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

‘UPPERS AND CHEAP LOVE’ LIL DUSTY G

I've been living in Leo's penthouse for two weeks now. Two weeks of blissful, mind-bending orgasms. Fourteen days and thirteen nights of bound wrists, spankings, and rough sex. I never want it to end.

It's not only the sex that's good, though. Leo has been so good to my mother. He makes sure she and I want for nothing; he treats us as if we're his family too. I haven't seen my ma so relaxed and stress-free. Most people would think becoming comfortable here is foolish, maybe even selfish, but in our culture, this is normal. Family, friends, and neighbors take care of each other.

Of course, everything Leo has done goes beyond being a good Samaritan... I don't know, maybe it is foolish, but what can a person do but give in? I fought my feelings and to me, that is what felt foolish.

Denying your feelings is like going to the grave without having lived.

His mother is healing well. I was worried she'd get an infection, but thankfully that never happened. Hell, she didn't even get a fever, but that probably has something to do with Doc coming by daily to check on her.

Either way, I'm thankful she's healing.

My body is completely healed. I still have some soreness in places but it’s nothing in comparison to how I was two weeks ago.

"I'm glad we decided to get the tree last. Should we get a real one or a pre-lit fake one?" Letty's voice pulls me from my thoughts.

We've been shopping all morning, trying to find the best presents for everyone.

I quit my job at the Nectar’s, but Brian picked up my last paycheck for me, so I have some money to spend on gifts.

Being cooped up in the penthouse hadn't been such a big deal to me. I don't have too much of a social life outside of working, and I never really cared to have one. As long as I have my coffee and romance novels, I'm content to stay indoors.

"I say one of the pre-lits from Jergens. It can be stored and reused, so you save money next year. Oh, and we can get those beautiful glass balls we saw there too!"

We went gift shopping first, and Letty paid every store we purchased from to deliver our items. I gotta say, when your name has money, power, and respect behind it, lots of doors are open for you.

Would my life be like Letty's if my father lived to raise me? I guess I'll never know, but I like to think my father would have made sure I had a bright future.

"Deal! Let's go." Letty takes my hand and drags me from the little deli we've been people-watching from. I can feel my legs protest more walking, but I really like Letty and her whole character, so I don't complain.

900 North Michigan Shops is an enormous mall. Six levels of beautiful shops and boutiques. Everywhere I look, there’s expensive stores showing high-end clothing and accessories.

As we walk, I ask her, "What was Leo like when he was a kid?"

Letty is my age, so there's not a huge age gap between them. They spent their childhood with each other, and I bet there’s loads of memories and stories to share.

My heart aches at the thought of siblings having a close relationship.

Leo knows my brother, but he won't let me talk to him. I understand his reasoning, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck ass. He told me my brother, Manuel, will be coming to Chicago soon and I can only hope I’ll be able to meet him. Hopefully he’s not an asshole and we can have a relationship.

Though, from the stories I’ve heard, it seems like my brother is the big bad wolf. I guess you have to be if you’re the Ruthless King of Vegas.

We walk into Jergens as Letty answers me, “Leo was really close to our dad. They were always out fishing or working on cars together.”

We stop at a display table and look over the ornaments they have, but my mind is riveted on Letty's story. I watch her as she smiles with remembrance.

Letty is stunning. She has long tight curls, but she changed her hair color from naturally dark to blonde. It fits her well with her tanned complexion and oval face. Absolutely stunning, but her sad smile makes me regret my question.

"Hey, you don't have to tell me. I didn't mean to dredge up painful memories."

Letty shakes her head, "No, it's cool. I just miss my pops some days. Anyway, Leo was pretty much the same person he is today. He's always been a leader. When pop died, he became the man of the house. He felt the weight on him to care for us, and he wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. But life has a funny way of blocking us from accomplishing even the smallest goals."

We move around to another table where I spot the cutest little ornaments of angels drinking from coffee cups.

Definitely getting these.
