“The lady is right,” Zach chuckled. “The wounded first.”

Jamie turned his head to glare at me, and then turned back to the rope. “Alright, as you wish.”

Jamie took the rope in hand, braced a foot on the rock wall and then began his assent, hissing with every pull of his arms. “Don’t stare at my ass, Snow.”

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Of course, he’d make a joke of things now that we weren’t alone. He was always joking. That seemed to be his go-to way of carrying himself. He could be serious, and sexy, but when people were around Jamieson Hart became a tease, a flirt, and a goofball.

Jamie disappeared over the side of the cliff with the help of some other wolves I couldn’t recognize at a distance, and Zach cleared his throat.

“You’re up next,” he said.

“Thanks for the rescue, Brother.” I smiled at him.

He pointed towards the top of the ravine. “I’m not carrying you up, so you better start climbing.”

I flipped him off and copied the path Jamie had taken to the top. At the ledge, Dillon and Maria each grabbed a part of my shirt and hoisted me up onto the higher ground.

I dropped the rope and shook out my arms. “Thank you.”

“Not a problem.” Dillon said, giving a mock salute as he waved down over the edge to my brother.

“Where is Jamie?” I asked, scanning the horizon.

“Marc, one of the pups, took him back to the house on an ATV. Adrian’s orders,” Maria said. “Are you okay? It didn’t look like you landed well when you got down there.”

“I’m fine. Let’s get back to the house. I’m worried about Jamie,” I said.

“I’m sure he’s fine.” Maria muttered. “Besides, Adrian wants to see you as soon as we get back. So he’ll have to wait.”
