“Oh, honey, you look so tired,” she crooned, touching me lightly on the shoulder. “Why don’t you two go check into the bed and breakfast on the edge of town.The Maiden’s Rest. I’m sure they’ve got a room open.”
I yawned into my fist. “Iamtired.”
“Me too,” Jamie said, looping an arm around my shoulders. “Maybe we should get a room for the night.”
“A cute couple like you,” the woman smiled. “You deserve a night out.”
“Thank you…” What was her name again? “Martha?”
Smiled back away. “Not a problem. Happy to welcome new souls to our little town. Enjoy your stay.”
“Thank you,” Jamie said, lifting a hand to wave goodbye.
Martha waved over her shoulder. “Enjoy your night.”
