“No. I get an alert for every transaction over five-thousand dollars.”

“Yep, that was me, all right. Hey, I was thinking…should I book a photographer?”

“I’ve taken care of that already, Tessie. I already have the caterers and the party planners lined up to come set up everything in the morning. I don’t want you worried about a thing, okay?”

“Okay.”

“What are you doing now?”

“Having lunch at Little Beach Café with my mom and Ella.”

“All right. I’ll come through for a few.”

“I thought you were at the office?”

“I am, but you’re not here which means I need to leave ASAP to get my fix. Don’t go anywhere. I’ll be right there.”

“Okay. Should I order you something to eat?”

“If you’re not on the menu, don’t bother. Bye.”

A blush held me captive – so much so that I take a breath to refocus on what I was doing. Oh, yeah, that’s right – having lunch and talking about my wedding. When I look up, I’m met by two pairs of inquisitive eyes. I say, “Essex is stopping by. I don’t know if he’s staying. He said he needed to see me.”

“I bet he does,” Mom says. “Like he won’t see you every day for the rest of his life.”

Ella’s eyes grow as big as golf balls when she says, “I just figured something out. That’s why he wanted you to work for his company so badly in the beginning! You were his crush. He was your crush, and this is how he maneuvered things to get you two back together!”

“That’s exactly what he did,” I say.

Moments later, theMaybach pulls up. Since we’re sitting outside at one of the wrought iron umbrella tables, I see the moment Essex gets out the back.

Incredible.

That’s the first word that comes to mind followed by many others – handsome, admirable, charismatic, charming, sophisticated – but incredible is the right one to describe him at the moment. The way that three-piece, dark navy suit lies on his body has my leg bouncing up and down. He’s always so well put together. Essex freakin’ DePaul AKAmyStewart.

It’s funny how my perception of him changed drastically when I realized who he really was. That thin line between love and hate drifted over to love and love became appreciation and admiration. I have so much more respect for him – for all the things he did to better himself. He wanted something different for his life and he made the appropriate changes to make it happen.

Now, he has it all.

“Good afternoon, ladies,” he says as he approaches our table.

“Good afternoon,” Mom and Ella say in unison.

Essex walks up to me and reaches for my hand. I accept his grasp and he urges me to stand. He looks at Mom and Ella and says, “Excuse us for a moment,” except we don’t go anywhere and neither do they. He captures my face in his hands, leans down and has his way with my mouth, right there in front of them – in front of everyone out here.

“Mmm…” I moan. I can’t help it. I know my mom and best friend are sitting across the table and are probably shocked by his public display of affection – by the way he drives his tongue into my mouth, having a feast of me.

Guess he reallydidwant me on the menu…

A few more strokes of his tongue and he releases me. He looks at me with a gaze laced with lust, and it’s as deliberate as the kiss was.

“Hi,” he tells me.

“Hey.”

He flashes a barely-there smirk that gives him the appearance that he wants to smile, but he doesn’t – looks so sexy on him.

“Did you miss me today?” I ask.
