Clark Kent: Can’t. I’m not at the library yet.

Spencer’s replying text bubbles start rippling. Ripple. Ripple. Ripple. Then they disappear. And the screen stays blank. Twinge.
“Tess!” Maddie calls out. She and the rest of the counselors are lined up by the check-in station. “We need you,” she says, and my heart swells. I’m needed. These people are counting on me. So who cares if Spencer doesn’t think I’m important?
