“Amer,” Arwen calls his name, but he doesn’t falter in his direction. His entire focus is on me.

Amer moves in, carefully takes my mug of cocoa, and sets it down on the coffee table.

I open my mouth to say something but he surprises me yet again by bending and lifting me in a fireman’s hold.

“What are you doing?” I demand as I swallow my panic down.

“I’m done waiting for you to come to me.”

Amer turns, ignores me kicking him, and speaks to his little sister. “Merry Christmas, Arwen, I’ll see you later.” With that said, he starts walking again.

As he walks by I hear Vex asking Finley something and her responding with a snort and saying something about filling her in later.

“Put me down,” I scream and hit his back as he carries me through the Fort and outside. The cooler air nips at my skin. What the fuck? Why didn’t anyone stop him from taking me away? He places me in the car, not even looking at me as he shuts the door. I look at the entrance to the house and I realize they were all in on whatever Amer planned. Not a single one of them are demanding answers for what he’s done.

I don’t know who to be mad at the most right now, Amer or my so-called family.
