We don’t say anything else. Yes, I know Edmon, but I don’t know the man that he is now, just like he doesn’t know the woman that I am now. We may have once known one another, but we’re strangers now as we look at each other.

There is no use in trying to hide it either. It just is what it is, so I try to change the subject, though I’m not sure how well it works.

“Tell me, Edmon, tell me about everyone we knew and where they all ended up.”

Edmon laughs softly, but he doesn’t say no. He doesn’t balk at my little demand. Instead, he tells me. He tells me about all of the neighbors, what happened to them and where they are now if he knows.

I almost fall asleep to his stories, but as I’m drifting off into dreamland, the door opens and in walks Ruslan, carrying two bags at his sides. His eyes find mine, his lips curve up into a smile and he tells Edmon to join us.

He does, and the three of us have a pleasant four-in-the-morning breakfast before Edmon slips out of the condo and makes his way home.

Then it’s just me and Ruslan.

His lips curve up into a smirk as he watches me from across the table. He’s undressing me with his eyes, though I’m not wearing much. He’s undressing me and as much as it makes me squirm, it also makes my breath come out in heavy panting.
