Liz shrugged. “Maybe.”

“But you’re still selling?” Claire asked.

“Probably.” Liz sipped her coffee. “This is good.”

“Are you having second thoughts about selling?” Jane asked.

Liz sighed. “It just seems so comfortable and familiar now, and my apartment is being turned into high-end condos, so I’m looking for a place—”

“Morning!” Andie plopped into a chair. “Hey, Liz, good to see you.”

“You too. Thanks again for coming over to look at the things from my house,” Liz said. “The money you gave me paid for the painting.”

“I was happy to. It’s what I do. I get inventory to sell, a collector gets something they really want, and you get money for something you no longer want. It’s a win-win-win.” Andie pinched a corner off a corn muffin and popped it in her mouth. “How did it go with Sally?”

“Great. She’s hired.”

“Oh, really? Gosh I’d love to see the place once she’s done,” Andie said.

“You would? Bunny mentioned that too. Maybe I’ll have a little party to show it off.”

“I bet Maxi would like that too.” Andie frowned at something across the road. “Hey, isn’t that her over there?”

They turned to see Maxi heading down the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street. She waved at them and yelled. “I’ll be there in a few minutes!” Then she headed straight on.

“Huh, that’s weird.” Claire cut a cheese danish in half and slid one half onto her plate. “I wonder where she’s off to.”
