“As long as I need.”

His answer did not please her. “Do not deliberate too long. She might be stolen from you once she returns to London.” The Dowager stood.

Rhys sat and thought about his courtship and how it was failing long after his grandmother had exited the room. He was no longer sure that Lady Irene was the right woman for him to marry.

Elizabeth was able to sleep but only for a few hours which was too little given how long she had been awake. She got out of bed and lit a candle at the fireplace then put on her robe and left her bedchamber.

She roamed the halls before she found the library. Smiling, she let herself in and illuminated it with the lone candle she had brought. It was vast, and she would not be surprised if it contained books of all ages.

She sat at a desk that appeared to be waiting for her. There were stacks of parchment in one of the drawers. She pulled one out and began to write. Now that Rhys had made his support of Sanders public, she shared what she thought about it, deciding it would make a good piece to submit when she returned to London.

An hour later, she looked down at the sheets in front of her, and one of her brows rose in surprise. She had written more than she had intended to. In fact, she had enough content for Myers to publish in three news sheets. Elizabeth smiled, feeling rather accomplished. She rose from her seat and began to explore the library. When she saw a book titled,The Age of the Stars, she supposed it was an astronomical exposition and reached for it.

A hand picked it out before she could, followed by Rhys’ voice saying, “You are not going to read that.”
