"Or something," Zed scoffed.

"He's a chef at the fanciest restaurant in town," Elliot said, like a proud mom.

I was pretty sure he wouldn't appreciate the comparison, and kept it to myself.

"Damn," I whistled. "What do the rest of you do?"

They went around, telling me their jobs and college majors. They were all trying to get through their degrees as fast as possible, in preparation for meeting their mates. I thought it was really sweet.

Jesse was quiet behind/beneath me, but his hand stroked up and down my thigh pretty consistently. It was only slightly distracting.

Not as distracting as the erection pressed against my ass, though.

It was a good thing we had an entire extra day before I went back to school.

We chatted while Zed cooked, and much to my surprise, it was actually kind of fun. Jesse's packmates were cool to have around now that they weren't afraid I was going to kiss them again, and they seemed at least somewhat interested in me and my life.

Jesse remained fairly quiet, only contributing when someone asked him a question directly. I was pretty sure he was just trying to adapt to the new dynamic of being the only mated guy in the group, as well as trying to adjust to his possessive tendencies that probably made him feel like his friends were a threat sometimes.

After a delicious dinner in which I ate twice more than Rocco and the rest of them, they left us alone again.

As soon as they were gone, Jesse's hands were on my ass, his lips locked with mine. My back hit the front door, my legs winding around his waist.

A knock behind my head had us freezing in place.

"We heard a thud. Are you okay?" Elliot yelled through the door.

Totally the pack's mom.

"We're fine," Jesse yelled back, giving no explanation for the thud.

There was a long pause.

"Alright. Good night!" Elliot called out.

We waited a few minutes, our eyes meeting before we both burst out laughing. We laughed so hard that we cried, and then laughed some more.

"Shit," Jesse said with a grin, as he hauled me up the stairs. "I didn't think about them hearing."

"You win some and you lose some." I grinned back, wiping at my eyes with one hand and holding on to Jesse with the other, since he was still carrying me reverse-backpack style.

"Nah. I'm on a permanent winning-streak." Jesse kissed me, pinning me between him and our bedroom door since the front one was now off-limits for the time being. "At least with you." He caught my lips.
