I knew nothing about the price of alcohol.

Ford reached over and plucked a twenty-dollar bill out of my pile. He set it on the bar, but made no move to get up.

"I'll wait in here in case Jesse needs a ride back," he told me.

I felt a bit insulted by the neutrality in his tone, but then again, we weren't really friends.

"Great." I strode toward the door.
