TWENTY-NINE

All of ourminds were spinning, but the pack launched into action. Everyone moved Dax’s shit out of his old townhouse rapidly, loading up trucks and cars until the only stuff left in the building was Ryder’s. That only took a few minutes with our massive group, and then we all went through with a vacuum and cleaning supplies, wiping our scents out of the place as much as we could.

Lizzy, Elliot, Rocco, and Del headed home to put their squirts to bed, but everyone else drove with us to drop off Dax’s stuff. It all got piled in our living room before they all filed out, promising to keep us updated as they spied on Ryder and Char as much as possible.

Dax and I collapsed onto the couch together, shocked and exhausted at the same time.

“Can’t say I saw that coming,” Dax admitted, his fingers tangling in my hair.

“I didn’t either.” I let out a slow breath. “Do you think they’ll be okay?”

“I think this is a chance for Ryder to stay alive, and have a mate who could genuinely love him in a way Lisa never did. So yeah, I think that when they get their shit figured out, they’re going to be incredible.”

My heart swelled. “I hope so.”

Dax’s fingers played with my hair. “You looked like you were enjoying the dinner.”

“It was nice,” I admitted. “I think I had it all worked up and escalated to something it wasn’t in my mind. My emotions got in the way. The girls were always nice to me, and I got along well with them—it was just old feelings, resurfacing.”

“That’s alright. I’m glad you liked it—if you ever don’t, we can always leave early, or take a break from them for a few weeks if you want. They’ll all be moving into the neighborhood, but that doesn’t mean we have to spend time with them if you don’t want to.”

I nodded, biting my lip a bit. “Thank you.”

“Of course. You know you come first for me, Sabrina. I love the pack, but you’re my mate. My whole damn world.” His fingers buried deeper into my hair.

My heart swelled. “Is this where you tell me you love me again?”

He chuckled. “I’d tell you that every fucking minute of the day if you didn’t hate hearing it so much.”

“I don’t—I like hearing it. I’m still getting there, but I like that you love me.” I turned my head, lifting my lips toward his. “Kiss me?”

He didn’t waste time replying, just capturing my lips in response.

Our lips moved slowly, our tongues meeting and stroking one another like long lost lovers.

As the kiss grew deeper, and hotter, I found myself turning toward Dax, slowly creeping up onto his lap until I was sitting on him, straddling him.

His erection throbbed against my core, and fuck, I missed him.

“You wanted to slow down,” he growled softly against my lips. “No fucking.”

“I don’t want you to fuck me. I want you to make love to me,” I whispered back.

A low groan vibrated his chest, and I rocked against him.

“I fucking love you, Sabrina.” He captured my lips with his, carrying me off toward the bedroom.

My legs wrapped around his waist as we walked, and I pulled my lips away from his again long enough to murmur into his ear, “I think I might love you too.”

My back landed on the mattress, and Dax peeled my clothes off slowly, taking the time to kiss my nipples, and my collarbone, and my ears, and my belly, before his lips finally landed on my core.

He didn’t devour me—he tasted me, savored me, unraveling me slowly stroke by stroke until I was a writhing pile of panting, orgasmic goo.

When I’d shattered twice, he climbed back up me, and lined our bodies up together.

“I want your eyes on mine, Sabrina. I want you watching me, knowing that I’m yours, and that you’re mine,” he said in a gravelly whisper, as the tip of him teased my entrance.

Soft pants escaped me as he slowly entered me, and I groaned when he was buried completely inside me.
