She gave me a shy smile. “I’m coming round to the idea.”

“Me too.”

Lacey sighed and chewed her lip, before she finally said, “are you?”

I’d love nothing more than it to be only the two of us, but I also knew Lacey wasn't a normal type of girl and I appreciate that now more than ever before. That was why I was who I was—an angel—her protector.

I sighed as I thought of that, wishing it could be different. But possibly one day it could be. But for now. "You need all of us for different reasons. But it doesn’t take away the fact I feel we belong together and more so than ever before.” I hesitated. “Look at us. Where are the others? It’s like they know it too.”

“Do you think we should tell them about what we did? If I am going to trust you as my knights, I feel I should be honest with them,” Lacey said and sighed.

“Yes, but just remember you didn't cheat on anyone, you weren’t in a relationship with any of us but we’re going to have to say something at some point. It’ll be easier to just get it out of the way,” I said.

“I haven’t stopped thinking about it,” Lacey said and turned her face to mine and grinned. “And if this leg didn’t hurt, I’d sit on you and ride you.”

“And we’re still not dating yet,” I said and burst out laughing and shaking my head at her.

“Ah, was it just a one-off shag?” Her voice full of humour.

“No, it was the first of a lifetime of them, and you wouldn’t be riding me because I’d bend you over and fuck you doggy style.”

“Kane.”

I gently pulled her up onto my chest. She laid on top of me as we gazed at each other. “I love looking at your face and eyes too much. My orgasm was out of this world looking at you.”

“It was pretty special.” She grinned. “Bloody leg, I want to do it again. When do you think it’ll be healed?”

“I don’t know. Ryan is surprised you haven’t healed yourself. He said your injuries are slower healing because it’s a non-magical injury and therefore your magic can’t be used on it.”

Lacey hummed, and a pout pulled at her lips, I knew she was still disagreeing with that. “At least my stomach is fine now.” She hummed again. “Can anyone else heal? I suppose Clay will be able to.” She peered into my eyes as though she expected me to know the answer.

“I’m not sure?” I said because Clay was the most powerful man I knew, but healing other people was a specify magic and regardless of how powerful a person was, many people wouldn’t have the power. “I need to speak to you about something else. I’ve got something to tell you.”

Lacey looked up at me with wide-open eyes. “Your voice has changed.”

I nodded lightly. “Clay has summoned us all to his home for a meeting and then you have to stay on for Christmas.”

She pulled a face. “All of us? What do you think he wants to say?”

“I think he will tell us we have failed you.”

Lacey narrowed her eyes and gave me a confused look. “About being knights?” she asked. I nodded. “I assume you think he is going to do something about it?”

“We failed you, Lacey. You thought it was the Dark King, and we weren’t around for you. I think we were all idiots about the way we went about things. We were too busy trying to win your heart, and we forgot the protection bit.”

“You weren’t officially knights,” Lacey said.

“But we’re in the university to ensure you remain safe, Lacey. I lost sight of everything because of Jack and Blake. Carter for his reasons. To be fair on Seb, he was the only one whose focus was purely on you.” I sighed. “I think there is the possibility Clay might demote us to a general knight rank. That’s the same as the likes of Polly.”

“Oh.” She straddled over me, her lips touched mine. She leaned on her arms, her lips turned up into a massive smile.

“Two things Kane, first. I’ve been an idiot for nearly two weeks, but I told you I wouldn’t lose you.”

She kissed me quick. I grinned.

“And two,” I asked.

“You still owe me that quickie and this bruised leg will not stop me, even if I need to use a little magic to cover the pain," she said with a flash of naughtiness in her smile.
