My eyebrows raised. “To get back at me?”

“At first.”

“What do you mean at first?”

She rose one shoulder and didn’t respond.

“Fucking hell, Lacey. You’re really punishing me. The true you is now coming out.”

“What do you mean by that?” she hissed. “I was always good to you. How would you feel if you saw what I saw?”

“You saw nothing real,” I growled, and we stood and glared at each other. It was a fucking showdown. But she was soon going to be bound to me, regardless.

I smirked.

Her eyes narrowed because she knew I was plotting, felt me plotting because at this moment I knew so much more than her. I knew because, unlike her prissy upbringing, and her parents trying to protect her, giving her a so-called normal childhood. My parents preached to me about what the kingdom had chosen me for.

I want to fuck you.

I chuckled as she frowned. Her powers were working because she knew and she felt, and my instincts were telling me she was coming of age.

“Hard luck.” She smirked.

I took her arm and pulled her to me. “Hard luck, what?”

“You know,” she whispered.

“I knew you felt me,” I said, and pointed to her head. “In here and here.” I pointed to her heart.

Her tongue swiped her bottom lip. Her eyes didn’t leave mine. “I feel nothing.” She turned to walk away. I swallowed just as she turned back around. “I do sense you, though.”

“It’s a start, Sunshine.”

Her head whipped around again. “Nobody calls me that name outside of the kingdom.”

And that comment surprised me more than anything else. I thought they totally protected her, not knowing anything about her destiny.

“I know more than I let on.”

“You need to stop doing that, Lacey. It’s freaking me out,” I whispered.

She grinned, her smile so beautiful it lit up the room. That’s because she was the light and one day, I would be by her side when we saved this world, or maybe just her, from the Dark King.

We locked eyes and as much as the distance between us seemed so great with each smile; it was getting a little closer.

“Ready guys,” a voice called from the doorway. I turned and nodded.

It was only minutes later, and we were dancing together, getting closer again and I could see her eyes brightening, and I knew with each touch and each glance, she was closer to wanting to be mine again. She wanted to punish me, and that was fine. I could take her punishment as long as she ended up with me and nobody else.

The dance class went by relatively quickly, too quickly. I loved it when we danced together and after the dance class; I rushed to her as she readied herself for her bike.

“Why did you buy a motorbike? Why not a car?” I said gently because I didn’t want to irk her.

She rolled her eyes and smirked. “I like the thrill of how it makes me feel. It turns me on when I feel the purr of the vibration between my thighs.”

“I’m trying to be serious, Lacey. I’ve followed you before and you’re crazy. You ride too quick.”

“Don’t worry about it, it’s my funeral.” She threw her leg over the bike to straddle it, turned on the ignition, gave me a smile.
