Chapter Seven

Therestofthe session passed by quickly. He would ask me questions as he dipped into the ink, and my body would get the chills every time he smiled. Which was damn near every time he looked up at me.

When he was done, he covered the artwork with a numbing ointment. “You will probably need a touch up. These tend to not heal the best and fade quickly.”

“Okay, yeah. When should I come?”

I mean, I would like to come with him right now. There’s a nice, cushioned massage table behind me. He could just bend me over it.

“Two weeks should be enough time.”

“Yeah, okay. Should I have Kelly text you?”

He reaches to a stack of cards, grabs one, flips it over, and writes a number on the back before handing it to me.

“Here, the numbers on the front are for the shop, but I put my personal one on the back. Text me whenever.”

I take it from him. Our fingertips graze against each other and my breath hitches. He’s been touching me this whole time, but this was different. What the hell is wrong with me?

I’ll just blame it on my lack of intimacy with anyone besides things that are battery operated.

He tells me how much it is, and I pay him, leaving a good-sized tip, then I turn to walk back to the front. Right before I turn the corner, I chance a glance back at him. He’s sitting down, elbows on his knees, one handed balled in a fist in the other and his eyes are on me. Watching me through his thick lashes, his eyes even brighter with the light next to his face.

My heart races as I round the corner, walking quickly to Kelly.

“Let me see!”

I hold out my hand to show her.

“I love it! Did it hurt?”

“It wasn’t bad. Let’s go.”

I push at her to leave.

“Alright, alright. What’s your rush?”

“We can talk in the Jeep.”

Once we are buckled, I turn to her.

“Why didn’t you warn me that your tattoo guy was fucking gorgeous?”

“Oh, yeah. I forget to mention that. I guess cause he’s not my type. You know me, blonde hair and blue eyes all day.”

“Ugh!” I lay my head on my hands that are gripping the steering wheel.

“What? Did something happen?”

“Besides me wanting to jump his bones at every possible second, no.”

“Ohhhh, you have the hots for Titus!”

“I do not have the hots for him. He’s fucking hot.”

“What about bookstore boy?”

I look up, staring out of the windshield

“You’re allowed to date multiple people, you know that, right?” she asks when I don’t respond.

“Of course, I do.”

Do I though? No, not really. Now that I’ve been in the dating world and after my first date, I wasn’t really sure I wanted to again. And now I’ve had a great date with a fantastic guy, and then every ounce of my sex drive was pulling me towards Titus. The way he looked at me while I was leaving, too. That was the first time I’d ever been on the receiving end of such a panty dropping look.

“Looks like your social life might just get a bit busier.”
