“Thanks, dollface."

She opens the lid of the takeout, takes a bite and relaxes onto the couch.

"Plan?" I ask again.

"Oh right. Well, I figured we would start with dinner at that wing place you like so much, then go dancing at the new club that opened downtown. Apparently, Saturday nights bring all the hot guys." She winks at me.

"I'm not looking for a hot guy. And you know I can't dance."

"Oh, come on." She pleads, "You promised. We will get a beer in you at dinner, a few shots when we get to the club, and you will forget all about your lack of rhythm."

"Your plan is to get me drunk and take advantage of me?"

"One hundred percent. But don't worry, I won’t try to get you in bed." She winks at me again.

"A promise is a promise." I say sitting down next to her.

"Yes!" Her excitement is contagious, and I get a little giddy.

We spend the next hour getting dressed and doing our hair and makeup. Usually, my makeup routine consists of mascara and a tinted lip balm, but Chrissy insisted I at least put some eyeliner on and a bolder lip color. I hold the dark red tube of lipstick up and look at her.

"There is no point in putting this on yet. I'm just going to make a mess when I eat wings."

"True. You do eat them like a toddler."

She snatches the tube from my hand and puts it in her bag. "Safekeeping. This way you don’taccidentallyleave it at home.”

"You know me so well."

We both laugh while we gather our things and head out the door for a night of fun.

And a night of fun it turned out to be. First, I put down fifteen chicken wings and two beers. Then, at the club, Chrissy orders two rounds of shots that taste like whipped cream. Then...I dance. I dance until my feet go numb, and I can hardly stand from too many times of dropping it like it was hot.

"Bed. I need bed,” I say as we stumble into my apartment.

"Agreed."

We both land on the bed with a thud and fall asleep instantly.

The next morning, of course, we completely regret all of it.

"Why did we dance for so long? I can hardly move," I say to her after I notice she is awake next to me.

"Hey, I tried to leave earlier. You are the one who wanted to keep going."

I put my hand on my head and let out a groan.

"Never. Again." I say.

"Yeah, OK." She laughs and sits up. Her hand flies to the top of her head and she goes right back down.

"Bad idea?" I say.

"Yup."

Instead of getting the day started, we lay in bed and reminisce and gossip about the night before. Saturday night brought out the hot guys, that was for sure.

After two hours of dreading getting out of bed, we both decide it will be a long time before we do that again. We aren't getting any younger. Not that being in my mid-twenties is old. But I'm not as spry as I was in my college days.
