Chapter 11

Sarah

Eventhoughwewerestuck inside the hotel all day, we made the best of it. I got to meet everyone from the other group and even exchanged numbers with a couple of people that are from my home state.

“I am so glad this hotel has a restaurant attached to it,” I tell Chris as we make our way to the bar.

“You want something to drink?” he asks me, and I look over the giant menu hanging above all the rows of liquor.

“Yes, actually. I think I’ll have a beer.”

“Me, too.”

Chris orders us a couple of beers and I continue looking over the menu.

“I really hope by tomorrow we get to go to Florida.”

“Yeah. We won’t have as many days down there, but we will make it work.”

Our beers show up, and I pick mine up and tip it towards his. “To making the best out of a stormy situation.”

He clicks his beer on mine, and we both take a drink. We order our food and make conversation with each other and the others that join us.

“Do you mind if I sneak away for the night?”

“You going to bed?”

“No, but I’m ready to be in comfy clothes and watch the weather channel.”

He laughs. “Same.”

We both stand and say our goodbyes and go to the room.

“You can take the bed tonight,” I tell him when we exit the elevator.

“That’s okay. I don’t mind the pull-out.”

“I insist. You don’t even fit on that bed. I won’t take no for an answer.”

“Alright,” he says and swipes the card to open the door.

I grab my pajamas, this time opting for a t-shirt instead of a tank top and get ready for bed in the bathroom.

The pull-out bed is out and made by the time I am done, and Chris is laid out on the actual bed, no shirt…grey sweatpants.Sir. It is not grey sweatpants season. This is not fair. I'm not prepared.

But I’m not going to complain.

I avert my gaze before he catches me and put my clothes from the day in my luggage and grab a book.

“Don’t want to watch the weather?” he asks.

“Not really but feel free. I can read with the TV on.”

“What are you reading?”

“A romance.”

I flip the book open to where I left off and raise it to my face, easy avoidance technique.
