“Sammy,” she calls and from across the man-made pond comes flying over this great big pelican. He’s majestic.

“He knows the drill.”

He gets right in front of us, and she hands me a fish. He walks to me and opens his giant beak.

“Just drop it in there.”

I glance to Chris, almost nervous, and look back down at the giant pelican waiting for me to give him his food. His wings now spread out slightly. I drop the fish in his mouth, and he lifts his beak, working the fish down his throat and into his belly.

My mouth gapes open, and I am speechless. I just fed a pelican. That was so amazing. He was right in front of me.

The lady looks at me and points to Sam.

“If you want, while the next person feeds him you can pet him.”

My mouth drops even wider and the giddiness I feel inside feels like it’s going to burst out. I wait for the lady next to me to get her fish and for Sam to go to her before I bend down slightly and pet his wings. So silky soft. And his body, compared to my little hand, is mind-blowing. I pet him once then keep my hand there until he is done eating and walks over to the next person.

I bunch my hands into fists and put them to my chin and let out a tiny squeal as I walk back over to the group. I look up to Chris as I get there, my face still beaming with excitement.

“Best. Day. Ever.”

Chapter 16

Chris

IfIcouldhavecaptured Sarah’s excitement in a bottle, I would have. That smile on her face when she got to feed the pelican is an expression I want to keep on her face.

We leave in the morning for Texas, but tonight I want to be with her and her contagious happiness. The group stops for dinner at one of the little seafood places along the road with the best crab cakes I have ever had. It’s loud and everyone is having a great time. Sarah is bee-bopping from person to person, talking to everyone she can. I keep conversation with the people right around me, but I’m not really hearing them. My concentration is on one auburn-haired beauty.

When we get to the hotel, I touch her forearm.

“Stay for a second?”

She nods her head. Her smile is still there. I don’t think she could lose it even if she tried.

“See everyone in the morning. Our plane leaves at 10:00 AM, so we will meet down here at 7:30,” I say before they unload and make their way to the hotel. Once the door shuts and everyone is out of sight, I weave my fingers through hers. Her hand seems so small on mine, but so soft and feminine.

I give her my best pleading smiling face.

“Stay with me, tonight?”

She bites her bottom lip, and my dick stirs, warmth filling the core of my body.

“Yeah,” she says it so quietly that I almost miss it, but since she’s still smiling, I can only assume I heard her right.

“Yeah?” Now I’m the giddy one.

She laughs, and we exit the van.

“I need to take a shower. I smell like fish. Oh, and I should pack, so I don’t have to worry about it in the morning. I can bring my luggage to your room, right?” she asks, and I don’t even think twice about it.

“Of course.”

“Perfect.”

We take the elevator up to our rooms. The electricity between us bouncing from one metal wall to the other.

When the door opens, we step out together and walk down the hall to where both our rooms are. Standing at my door, I grab her hand.
