“Well, four.”

“You decided to go home early.”

“Yeah, I didn’t know I would meet an amazing man.”

He kisses the top of my head.

“And who knew birding would bring an unbelievable woman into my life?”

I look up to him and smile. “Showers and bed,” I say, smirking and then winking at him. Using his move against him.

“Ohohoho,” he says and scoops me up. I wrap my legs around him, and we take one steamy shower.

Chapter 25

Chris

Ireallydon’twantthis trip to be over. I could keep going for months as long as I have Sarah by my side. She brings an air of love to things. Her excitement is contagious. I’ve been looking at everything in a new light because of her.

I’m excited that the director let me plan the last week. Everyone is staying in my town of Columbus Falls. I get to take them to the nature center where I volunteer and on a hike to one of my favorite spots.

I help people get their luggage to their rooms and then go to Sarah’s before I head to my house.

“Hey, Titmouse. You ready for your last adventure?”

“I sure am.”

The week goes by too fast. She has one more day after tonight and I promised her ducks. So, I planned a little something with the help of my mom.

I knock on her door, and when she opens it, I am shook. She is wearing a blue and pink plaid button-down shirt, tucked into skintight boot cut jeans and square toe brown boots that match mine.

“Damn, girl. I didn’t think you could get any sexier, but here you go proving me wrong.”

I step into the room, grab her around the waist, and bring her up to my level and kiss her. I set her down, and she laughs.

“There’s a little boutique up the road, so I thought I would get some things that remind me of you.”

I grab her hand and kiss it. “You ready to go?”

“Meet the ducks?”

“Yup.”

“Yes!” she says and pops onto her toes before walking out beside me.

When we get to my parent’s property. I drive past the house to the back of the pasture. My parents have wrangled up all the ducks at one end. I see her tilt forward in her seat when she sees them.

“What’s that?” she asks and points to the small round table and two chairs in the center of the ducks.

“Dinner,” I say as I put the truck into park.

I open the door for her and give her my hand while she slides out of my truck.

“Oh, my gosh. This is so sweet.”

The table is a small white iron table with matching chairs that my mom usually keeps on the front deck. Next to it is a cooler with dinner.

Sarah goes right for the ducks, though.
