“No, I’m Sage, I’m with Toe Beans, the local cat shelter.”

“Oh, yeah. I know the owner. I’m Lily,” I say to her as I reach my hand out and she shakes it.

“Hi. Yeah, she told me you know each other. I just started working there a few weeks ago.”

“Oh, okay. What can I do for ya, then?”

“We want to have a cat adoption and were wondering if you would want to host it?”

“Host it? Like, here in the store?”

“Yes!”

“I would love to. That would be so fun. When were you thinking?”

“In two weeks? Unless that is too soon?”

“Two weeks is fine.”

“Perfect!.” She pulls her messenger bag around to her front, flips the top and pulls out a small folder.

“Here is some info on the cats we will have there. Most of them are kittens who will only be a week or two out from going home. In there is also what we charge and what we supply, vaccinations wise.”

“Okay, great.” I take the folder from her and set it on the counter. “Do you have any pets?” I ask her.

“Yes. I have my own cat and I also foster cats.”

“You’re a great person for being able to do that.”

I round the counter and open the glass case.

“Would you like some cat cookies to take home? My treat.”

She walks over to the counter and looks down at the display of treats.

“Sure. That would be great.”

I grab a small box and fill it for her.

“I make a fresh batch of these every weekend. I use all natural ingredients, so you could even eat them if you wanted to.”

She laughs as I close the box and hand it to her.

“I’m sure the kitties will love them. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I’ll be in touch with you next week to finalize all the plans.”

“Okay. It was nice meeting you, Sage.”

“You too,” she says as she leaves the shop.

A cat adoption event. That will be so much fun and great exposure for the shelter and our store.
