“I am. Trust me.” I giggle. “Oh, remember Alexis?”
I set the cookie cutter down
“The girl who works at the vet office?”
“Yup. She came into the store accusing me of doing naughty stuff with him on Monday, then proceeded to be completely inappropriate with him at work.”
“What did he do?”
“The first thing he did was call me, then after I told him what happened, he decided to give her two weeks to find something else.”
“Holy shit!”
“Right!”
“Was she wrong though?”
“Maybe.”
“Lily!” she squeals. “Was it in a room? On an exam table?”
I cover my eyes with my hand and clench my jar to push out the words, “His office, his desk.”
“That’s hot, sis.”
“It was like the threat of being caught. New kink unlocked.”
We both laugh. “So, yeah. I would say it’s going good,” I tell her.
“I’m glad. You deserve all the happiness.”
“Thanks sis.”
“Okay, I gotta go feed miss thing. Love ya.”
“Love you, too.”
After ending the call, I set my phone down and spread the cookies on the sheet. I made double this time because I ran out before Thursday last week. My heart does a little flip flop, thinking about delivering the cookies tomorrow.

“Thisisbullshit,”Alexissays. “You are sleeping with her, and this proves it.”
Alexis stands, pointing at me. I take a deep breath and stand also.
“Alexis, what I do with my personal life is frankly none of your business. You are an employee, period.”
“So once I don’t work here anymore, then what?”
My brows pinch together, confusion crossing my face.
“What about it, Alexis?”
“Then that won’t be in the way. You’re allowed to play the field, you know. Don’t put your bones in one basket.”
I take a deep breath, calming my nerves. She really has some audacity.
