Jamal winked. “Maybe.”

Jamal helped Cassie a couple more times before she felt confident enough to try and hit one on her own. Jamal walked back toward their couch and sat down. “Remember, Bambi. It’s all in the hips.”

“That’s what she said,” Aria snickered.

“You’re a fan of The Office?” Trevin asked her, a goofy grin on his face. “I love that show!”

“Cassie and I have Netflix Saturday sessions of it sometimes,” she grinned his way. “It’s our favorite.”

Cassie smiled as she turned back to the ball sitting in front of her on the tee. She was glad Aria was hitting it off with someone. Her friend was definitely a flirt, but when Cassie actually thought about it, she couldn’t remember a time when Aria actuallydateda guy. And Cassie didn’t have a clue why. Aria was definitely not lacking in attention from the opposite sex.

“Ok, guys! I’m gonna try to hit one on my own now!” she called.

Aria grinned from her perch on the arm of the couch closest to where Cassie was standing, popped the Charms sucker out of her mouth and pointed it Cassie’s way. “You got it, girl! I believe in you!”

Taking a deep breath, Cassie reminded herself of the rules Jamal taught her. She pulled the golf club back before swinging it toward the ball. The driver connected with the ball and sent it sailing in the air. Cassie stood there, an awestruck look on her face, before she started squealing. Jumping up and down, she turned toward her friends. Their cheers turned to yells of concern, however, when the golf club slipped from Cassie’s grasp and sailed straight toward Aria’s head.

“Ar, watch out!” Cassie called but her friend couldn’t get out of the way soon enough. The head of the driver hit Aria right on the forehead with a resounding smack, sending her sailing backward on the couch into Trevin’s lap.

“Oh shit, Ar! Are you ok?” Cassie ran toward her friend and peered down at her face. “I’m so, so, so, so, so, so sorry! I was so excited about hitting it that I, well, I don’t know what I did. Except sail the stick thingy in your face!”

Aria blinked dazedly up at Cassie, a huge knot already forming in the middle of her forehead. “See, Cass? I told you that you could hit it. I just didn’t think you would hit me in the head, too.”

Jamal walked up behind Cassie, hiding his laugh behind her shoulder when he saw Aria’s face. “Well, I think it’s settled, Bambi.”

“What’s settled?” she asked with a frustrated sigh.

“That we are officially retiring you from anything related to participating in sports. It’s too dangerous. Forallpeople involved.”

Aria held up her hand to high five Jamal. “I have to agree, Cass. We love you, but you most definitely were born without a single sports gene in that little body of yours.”

Cassie threw her hands up in the air. “Fine. No more sports. I’ll just cheer on everyone else.”

“As long as it’s in the stands,” Aria agreed. “Because you know you can’t dance, either.”

Cassie stuck her tongue out at her friend. “Fine. No dancing, either.”

Aria started to get up off Trevin’s lap, but he pushed her back down. “No can do, Red. I can’t let you up until we know for sure you don’t have a concussion. It’s not safe,” he said with a serious look on his face.

“Or you could just not want Aria off your lap yet, Anderson,” Jamal told him with a laugh. “Smooth, man. Real smooth.”

Trevin shrugged his shoulders. “Can you blame me? This is the closest she’s ever let me get to her since she started dancing for us.”

Aria reached up and patted his cheek. “Aren’t you a sweetie?”

Trevin grinned down at Aria. “Iama sweetie, Red. Just ask anyone.”

Aria smiled. “If you’rethatsweet, can I convince you to buy me ice cream on the way home?”

“I hear it’s the perfect remedy for getting hit on the head by a golf club.”

Jamal leaned down and whispered in Cassie’s ear. “See? You can tell their children that you got them together when you hit her in the head with a golf club. Problem solved. You’re a little matchmaker.”

Cassie put her head in her hands and groaned. “I’m the worst sports person in the history of the world!”

“Look on the bright side, Bambi?”

“There’s a bright side?”
