“No, no way. It’s...” He looked away, apparently embarrassed. “I’ve never been with the same female...uh...more than...uh...twice.”

The truth. I knew it. I felt it in my soul. He’d never had a steady relationship. So, he was a player—or had been a player—and I was strangely okay with that.

He scrubbed a rough hand over his face. “Hell, that sounded so much worse when I said it out loud. I mean, I’ve never really even dated someone steady like. I just—”

“Hey, this”—I waved a finger between us—“you and me,thisis a relationship, and in this relationship, we will not play those role games. If I want something, I’m going to make sure you know. If you want something...” I tapped a finger on his chest, then wrapped my hand around the back of his neck. “You make sure I know in such a way that there are no silly misunderstandings. Deal?”

“Deal.” The heat came back to his eyes as a smile curved his lips. “So, what were we talkin’ about? Marking?”

“Yes, you marking me and vice versa.”

His smile widened, and two long, sharp canines slowly dropped into view. My canines ached in response, along with other parts of my body. I pulled the collar of my jacket aside and exposed my neck. His eyes flashed as he glanced down.

“So, are you ready?” I whispered.

His mouth descended, and I trembled as his lips traced kisses down my neck.

“Right here, darlin’?”

He nipped at me, and every inch of my skin ached to feel his touch. My breasts tingled, full and heavy. Between my legs felt swollen and hot and pulsed frantically with a life of its own.

“Yes.” My breaths came in rapid pants.

The rasp of my jacket zipper coming undone sounded loud in the silence. Seff’s mouth traced my collarbone as his fingers pulled my lacy sweater off my shoulder.

“Damn, you are so soft.” His eyes followed the lines of my tattoo to the naked breast he’d exposed. “Dear ancient gods, your breasts are so beautiful.”

I sifted my fingers through his long hair and urged him to taste me. Take me. Make love to me with his mouth.

“Seff...”

Instead of taking full advantage of my offer, he pulled my sweater up and back into place. “We’ll need to wait for some privacy.”

I heard little footsteps dance down the wooden walkway toward my front door a second later. All the heat I’d generated reduced to a slow simmer.

I grabbed Seff’s forearm as he tried to turn away.

“Tonight.” Not a question.

“Tonight,” he promised.

Arteisma barreled through the door. “Come on, Desarae. Let’s go!”

Seff’s fingers slipped from mine as he walked over to the washbasin. “I gotta wash up. Be just a minute.”

Arteisma handed me my gloves. “Your cheeks are really pink!”

I smiled and replied, “Maybe I put on too much blush.” I glanced over at Seff while he dried his hands on a towel.

“You look perfect.” He winked, then flashed his long canines at me, making me blush even deeper.

“Put those away!” I mouthed as we all headed out the door.

He laughed and leaned toward me. “So, this twin bond thing? Will Deck be able to feel when we’re, you know?” His brows went up in question.

I curled my lip and nodded. “Yeah. And he knows we didn’t do anything last night.” I rolled my eyes and mumbled, “Jerkface.”

I watched as Arteisma skipped over the walkway and down the stairs to the snow-covered ground, her long braid bouncing from side to side.
