He rattled off my building number and street. “Apartment 216?” His voice was low, and it also seemed familiar, but I couldn’t honestly tell, as my neighbors were opening their front door and stepping out into the hall.

“That’s me.”

I thought maybe he had been reading the receipt taped to the bag, but he didn’t lower it after I confirmed he had the right place.

And since it had been established that I had a short fuse, it didn’t take me long to get impatient.

“Look, if you don’t hand over my food in the next few seconds, I’m keeping your damn tip.”

My neighbors, a couple in their fifties, gasped at my rudeness.

The bag lowered to show a laughing Dominick. “Shit, Viv, I heard you were in a mood, but I didn’t expect this. And you can keep your money. You can pay me in orgasms instead.”

“Oh my God,” one of the neighbors said, and I realized I needed to get Dom out of the hallway.

I fisted his shirt in my hand and pulled him inside my apartment and slammed the door.

“What are you doing here?”

He raised his eyebrows. “Isn’t it obvious? I’m bringing you your food.” He looked behind me and headed for the kitchen once he spotted it.

“I’ve never seen you here before,” I said suspiciously.

“That’s because I don’t actually deliver food.”

“Then, what do you do?” I challenged.

“I’m a welder. I just happened to see your delivery guy in the hallway and took it from him.”

“Please tell me you tipped him,” I said as Dom started unpacking my order.

“Of course I paid him.”

I let out a breath of relief. Knowing how little those employees made, I always tried to give them an extra-good tip.

“Here’s the money to pay you back,” I said, sliding the money on the counter over to him.

He stared down at the money and then up at me. “I told you, you can pay me in orgasms. Besides, I gave him more than that.”

I crossed my arms over my chest. “What makes you think I’m going to have sex with you again in order for you to get those orgasms?” I knew I was being difficult. The idea of getting naked again with Dominick didn’t sound half-bad, but I stubbornly wanted to hang on to my bad mood. “What are you even doing here anyway? I didn’t invite you.”

“Oof.” He put his hand to his chest, like he was in pain. “That one hurt.”

“You know what I mean. How do you know where I live?” I narrowed my eyes. “How do I know I can trust you?”

He tilted his head. “How hungry are you?”

Huh? What does that have to do with anything?

“Only a little.” I dropped a hand on the counter and leaned forward. “Why are you here?” I said, making sure to enunciate each word clearly.

He came around to my side of the counter, and I dropped my hand and straightened my spine. He moved in close but didn’t touch me.

“A little bird told me that you needed me. She’s also the one who gave me your address.”

I frowned. He had to be referring to Gina. She’d asked me if I needed another dick appointment, but I’d told her no, and she also had access to my address from work. And, now, here was Dominick, standing in my kitchen.

“So, Gina sent you. I don’t understand what she gets out of helping me.”
