A strong arm wrapped around me and pulled me back to an equally strong chest. “Spencer, is that how you speak to guests?” Dominick scolded.

Spencer grinned. “I was only kidding.” He waved his right hand because his left was in a sling with a cast peeking out of it. “I’m Spencer.”

I waved back, not amused at his jokes. “Vivian.”

“Besides, I thought I was a guest,” Spencer pointed out.

“You’re not a guest. You know where everything is, you help yourself, and we both know you’d live here if Marjorie let you.”

Spencer’s mouth didn’t change, but I saw the humor leave his eyes.

Dominick must have noticed it, too, because he kissed the top of my head. “Are you done in there, Viv?”

“Yeah.” I held my hand out to the bathroom. “It’s all yours.”

Dominick took my hand and led me back to his room, where he shoved me up against the door and kissed me. I let myself enjoy the moment for a second before putting my hands on his chest.

“If you think we’re having sex again, you’re wrong.”

He raised his eyebrows.

“My vagina is not having it. She’s too sore.”

“Now, she’s a vagina? I thought you didn’t like that word.”

I had to smile at his confusion. “No, it just isn’t sexy, which is how I feel right now. Sore vagina, tired Vivian.”

He brushed his mouth over mine. “You’re killing me because I really, really want to kiss your cunt all better.”

I groaned, knowing how good his hot mouth would feel on my tender pussy.

But I needed to get home and do some prep work for a case.

And because I knew I could be easily persuaded, I changed the subject. “Who’s Marjorie?”

Dominick curled his lip and pivoted away from me. “My mother.”

“You call her by her first name?” I asked as I finally spotted my pajama top and bottoms, which were thankfully right next to each other.

“She’s lucky I don’t call her Bitch.”

Whoa. Scooping up my clothes, I hugged them to my chest.

Despite spending all night with Dominick and having sex on a few occasions, I was reminded of how we really didn’t know each other. I’d never heard that tone come out of him.

Last night, I had concluded there was animosity between the two, but this sounded like outright hate. As much as I didn’t always see eye to eye with my parents, I still loved and respected them.

The attorney in me wanted to know all the facts, but I convinced myself it wasn’t time to pry. “I’m sorry,” I said to offer some comfort as I pulled on my clothes. “She must have really hurt you to deserve being called that.”

Dominick’s head whipped around to face me from where he stood at his closet. He looked me up and down. “You’re lucky you’re dressed or else I’d fuck you right now, sore pussy or no sore pussy.”

I could only stare in shock, seeing as that was the last thing I’d expected to come out of his mouth.

He smiled, his eyes still a little sad. “Everyone always says I shouldn’t treat my mother that way. Rarely do I ever get someone who automatically takes my side without an explanation.”

I shrugged. “I figure you have a good reason.”

“You have your phone on you?”
