“Do you know Mr. Reyes in a professional or personal sense?”

“Personal.”

“Even though he has been a process server for your firm?”

“Correct. I met him outside the office and have never personally worked with him.”

“And how long have you known Mr. Reyes?” the judge asked.

“Unfortunately, not long. Less than six months.”

“And how do you know he would be an appropriate guardian to his brother?”

“Dominick—Mr. Reyes—was the one who took Spencer to the hospital when he broke his arm, and he took care of him afterward. He obviously cares about his brother. Mr. Reyes is single and childless, and he is willing to pay someone to help him get custody. Big brothers don’t do that unless they love their siblings.”

Last night, I had expressed with my body how much I wanted this woman, but hearing the words she said up there sealed the deal.

She was mine.

Now, I just needed to make sure she knew that.

My dick throbbed at all the ways I was going to show her that she belonged to me.

I unobtrusively adjusted myself in my suit pants.

Judge St. James looked to the family services side of the court. “Do you have any questions for this witness?”

“Not at this time.”

“Ms. Stern, you may step down.”

Vivian left the witness stand, gave me another smile, and went back to her seat behind me.

“Mr. Reyes,” Judge St. James said, folding her hands and placing them on her bench.

She looked serious, and I had a feeling it didn’t bode well for me.

“I always want to do what is in the best interest of a child, and in this case, I think having you as his guardian is just that.” She picked up her gavel and hit it.

Relief swept through my body, making me almost light-headed.

Elaine put her hand on my arm. “I’ll file the paperwork immediately, so you can visit Spencer as soon as possible.”

“Thank you. Thank you so much for everything.”

“I’m glad it all worked out.”

I spun around to see Vivian wasn’t in the courtroom anymore. I was worried that she’d left, but I found her out in the hallway, staring down at her phone.

“Hey,” I said.

She looked up at me, concern in her eyes. “Oh. Hey.” She smiled when she saw it was me. “Congratulations.”

I really wanted to kiss her, but there were too many people around. “Thank you. I don’t know if I could have done it without you.”

She blushed. “I think you would have been fine. Judge St. James is a good person.”

“Have you worked with her before?”
