“Hmmm,” she replies, crossing her arms over her chest as if she isn’t sure whether she believes me.

“And,” I add, reaching for her hand, “considering I’ve known three of them for most of my life, just think of all the things you can now find out about me.”

Pen’s eyes widen as her mouth now curves into a devilish smile. “Oh, I didn’t think about that part.”

I lift her knuckles to my mouth, kissing them. “I mean, not that there’s much to tell, of course.”

She scoffs, turning in her seat so she’s facing me. “Bullshit.”

“What?” I say in surprise. “You think I’ve got stories, huh?”

She smirks at me, her hand now resting on the back of my neck. “I do, yes,” she says with a nod. “And I also think underneath this quiet, rough and rugged man, is a very, very naughty boy.”

“Me, a naughty boy?” I tease. “How can you think that, Pen?”

She laughs as she leans closer, so her mouth is against my ear. “Because you have a dirty mind and a filthy mouth,” she whispers. “There’s not a chance in hell you don’t have some naughty secrets.”

I groan as I pull into the parking lot with a hard-on now thanks to Pen and her whispered words. “Jesus, woman,” I practically growl. “I kinda wish you still had your apartment here because I’m about two seconds away from fucking you.”

Pen kisses my cheek, her hand moving between my legs and giving me a gentle squeeze before she hops out of my truck. I follow after her, subtly trying to readjust myself.

“Well, I don’t,” she says, smiling as she walks around the truck to me. “Because I love living with you in your awesome house.”

I throw an arm around her shoulders, pulling her against me. “I love it too, babe and you are absolutely going to pay for that,” I say, my eyes flicking back to the car. “When we get back to our awesome house.”

Pen giggles. “Can’t wait.”

Jack, Lauren, Ellen and Will are all waiting for us when we walk inside the restaurant, the four of them sitting around a large table, huge grins on their faces as though they know exactly why we are a little late.

“Evening,” I say to each of them, ignoring the looks as I pull out a chair for Pen. After she’s sat down, I take the chair next to her and look up to find all of them still watching us. “What?”

Lauren smiles at me, glancing at her sister briefly before turning back to us. “Nothing,” she replies.

I roll my eyes at her because of course I know her answer is bullshit. “Just ask what you want to ask,” I say, waving a hand at all of them as I rest my other arm across the back of Penny’s chair.

“I didn’t say anything,” Lauren says, her hands up.

Smirking, I reply, “You didn’t have to. Come on, let’s just get this over with.”

“Okay, I’ll start,” Jack says, leaning forward, his arms crossed on the table. “It was totally my app that did this, wasn’t it?”

I glance at Pen, who’s smiling. “Pretty sure it’s not actuallyyourapp, Jack,” she says.

“Whatever,” he dismisses, waving a hand flippantly. “It was definitely a part of it, so I’m totally taking some of the credit.”

“So you guys are living together now?” Lauren asks, cutting in as she puts a hand on Jack’s arm, in an attempt to steer the conversation away from this topic in case it reveals the true winner of their little pool on us.

“Yep,” I reply at the same time as Penny says, “Uh huh.”

Lauren glances at Ellen again as she murmurs. “So romantic.”

I feel Pen shift in her seat next to me, leaning closer she puts a hand on my cheek and tells them all, “He really is.”

“Babe,” I murmur, not loving the whole being the center of attention thing here.

Pen glances up at me, a mischievous look on her face. “But enough about us, why don’t you guys fill me in on what Tommy was like in his younger days? I need all the dirt.”

Will chuckles, rubbing his hands together. “Oh yes, and do we have some dirt on him.”
