She snorted and laughed, “Your cheeks were red for two days from that stuff.”

“It burned so bad. But I sat through it anyway for you, because you could finally breathe for the first time in days, and it was all worth it.”

“I’d forgotten about that. We were what, juniors?”

“Yeah I think so.”

“Hmm.” She said, thinking back to that time.

“That was the last time I sat in a bath before now too.”

She turned to look at me over her shoulder, “You’re trying to tell me no woman has been in this tub with you before now Jones?” She asked pensively.

“No woman has been in this apartment before, Valentine. None that I was romantically involved with anyway.”

“But yet you brought me here?”

“I did.” I answered easily. “And it feels right to me too.”

She was quiet as the bubbles hissed around us from the salts. She ran her fingers up and down my arm where it wrapped around her body as she was lost in thought.

“Where have you been the last ten years?” I asked her finally, letting the need to know everything push through my need to care for her sore body.

“All over really.” She answered, without actually giving me what I wanted.

“Tell me the truth Cora. What happened? Why didn’t you ever come to Duke?”

She sighed and turned in my arms to face me and then straddled me. “Duke was always your dream. Without you in my life anymore, it didn’t hold the same appeal. Didn’t you ask my parent’s anything over the years?”

“Yes, I asked about you every time I saw them for the first few years. But they were always vague or downright avoided the conversation and after a while, I just stopped trying.”

Pain flared in her eyes, but she blinked it away, “Is your family still friends with them?”

“Not like they used to be, honestly. Your parents got so busy with Penelope and Jake’s lives, they really thrived through their weddings and then with becoming grandparents. It made my parents green with envy that they still don’t have any grandkids to dote on like yours do.” Her body tensed and something sad passed over her features. “Do you visit them often?”

She shook her head, not looking in my eyes. “No, I don’t.”

“Well maybe we can change that.” I said, but she slid off my lap and stood up, getting out of the tub abruptly.

“No. I don’t want to change it Mav. And I don’t want to talk about the past anymore.” She grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her body and walked out of the bathroom, leaving me alone in the tub and confused as fuck.

“Wait a second.” I snapped and got out, chasing after her. She stood in the bedroom, looking through the bag of clothes I packed for her, but I grabbed it and tossed it across the room, scattering her clothes across the floor.

“Maverick!” She growled and went to go get it, but I stopped her with a hand on each of her arms.

“Stop. Take a deep breath and just stop.” I demanded and I watched as she desperately wanted to fight me but instead took a calming breath and relaxed. “Good girl.” I said softly.

She rolled her eyes and squinted her eyes at me, “You’re lucky I like you.” She replied.

“I’m very lucky indeed.” I said and pulled her towel loose and pushed it to the floor. She raised an eyebrow, but I silenced any retort she was going to throw at me by kissing her deeply. I was careful of how much pressure I put on her split lip, and I used my tongue to tease hers until she was clawing at my arms and neck, pressing her naked body against mine.

My cock was hard between our bodies, and she wrapped her hand around me and stroked me, making my hips jerk as pleasure built in my spine.

“Your cock is so sexy.” She whispered against my lips as she wrapped both hands around me and stroked me from root to tip.

“Youare sexy Cora.” I pinched her nipple between my fingers and pulled on it, loving the way she arched her back, pressing her chest into my hand further. “I want you to ride my face and then I’m going to fuck you so good.”

She moaned and licked her lips. “God yes.”
