“She didn’t know. But after what happened last time, there was no way I was allowing her to go without me. I’m sure you can understand.” He said politely.

Nat actually melted next to me and looked at Mav with dreamy eyes. “Oh come on.” I said, pulling her forward towards the car. I pushed her in ahead of me and slid in next to her as Maverick laid his hand on my ass, boosting me up.

His eyes were alight with mischief as he shut the door behind him. “So where are we going?” He asked as Franklin waited behind the wheel.

“Pandora’s patio.” Nat answered eagerly and adjusted herself in the seat.

“Good choice.” Mav answered and laid his hand on my thigh. He let his fingers slide under the fabric of my skirt until his hand was under it, warming my skin.

I took a deep breath and pressed my thighs together, pulling a light chuckle from his chest. I looked over at him and he winked at me.

“You’re in a better mood than I thought you would be.” I said, ignoring the fact that my friend sat in the cab with us.

He smirked at me, “All in good time dear.”

His voice and demeanor were relaxed, but I heard the threat in his voice. And I felt it deep in my core as my panties soaked.

Luckily, Franklin pulled up outside of the bar we were going to in record speed, and Maverick stepped out, holding his hand out for me and then for Nat as we climbed out onto the sidewalk.

“Ah, what a surprise.” A boisterous voice called from the doorway, and I looked up to see Reid and Dexter standing with two other men walking in the bar. They were quite the group to look at, all domineering and powerful in their expensive suits and stylish appearances.

But as we walked up to them, all of them paled in comparison to Maverick as he shook hands with the calendar worthy men.

Mav was deliciously powerful and exuded a dominance that even other men fell under the spell of.

Reid spoke as he shook Mav’s hand. “I thought you had plans of dragging Cora back to your cave by her hair?”

I elbowed Mav in the stomach, and he rolled his eyes at Reid. “You both are so dramatic.” He murmured.

Reid laughed and leaned down to kiss first my cheek and then Nat’s. “Ladies, this is Declan and Carter.” He introduced the two men with them, and they nodded to us with attractive smiles. Maverick put his arm over my shoulders and pulled me against his side like we were sixteen again and not two almost thirty-year-old’s in the middle of New York City. Dexter smirked as Reid asked, “So are we doing shooters again tonight ladies?”

Nat held her arms up in the air and wooed, “Yes! And Maverick is buying!” I laughed at her excitement and caught a smile on Mav’s lips as he watched her silliness.

“Let’s get inside before he changes his mind!” Reid whooped and we all filed inside the busy upscale bar.

The hostess looked at our group with wide eyes and I swear she saw dollar signs as she quickly grabbed the menus and led us to a large high-top table on the back patio under a sky of twinkly lights. The place was gorgeous, and it made me almost forget we were in the city, and it reminded me of home. Growing up in the suburbs of the city was something I had loved, being close to the hustle and bustle of the city but being able to see the stars at night at home made me happy.

“What’s wrong?” Mav said, leaning in against me where he stood at my side.

I looked up at him and shook my head. “Nothing. This place is beautiful.”

He looked around like it was the first time he really paid attention to it and smiled. “Looks like your old back patio actually.”

“Hmm.” I said and grabbed the menu, trying not to get down.

“I’ll build you one just like this if that’s what you want.” He sat down on the stool next to me and sat so close that his knees went around me, one against my back and one against my own, hugging me into his space.

I turned and looked at him and leaned in, kissing him slowly, not caring for anyone around us watching this PDA. It just felt right, and it was exactly what I needed after feeling on edge all day. “I missed you.” I whispered against his lips.

His hands rested on my ass and my thigh as he leaned forward even more. “You missed our lunch date. I was looking forward to my meal.” His voice was deep, and my body shivered at his words.

“I desperately wanted to be your meal.” I purred back and he lowered his lips to mine again and took them in a hungry kiss, threading his fingers in my hair and holding me tightly where he wanted as he drank from my lips.

“Hey, you two, get a room.” Reid called and the group snickered.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Maverick Jones so enamored before.” Declan said and I pulled back to see a wicked glint in Mav’s eye as he licked his lips, like he was savoring the taste of me.

I pushed my hair back off my shoulders and bit my lip as I tried make the words on the menu make sense as the waitress came to the table and started taking orders.
