“One more week,” she moaned, and he knew she meant she would have completed a full cycle of her pill. Then they could have sex without any barriers.

“Can’t wait, but for now, hold that thought.” He reached into his nightstand drawer, fumbled for a foil packet, and quickly sheathed himself. “I’ve waited all week for this.” He lifted her hips, taking his time to enter her from this new angle. “Relax.” He kissed the back of her neck. “I’ll be gentle.”

“Maybe I don’t want you to be gentle.”

“Be careful what you wish for.” He shifted his hips forward, thrusting inside her. “Once I unleash the hunger I have for you, I might not be able to pull it back.”

“Don’t,” she moaned.

“God, you’re fucking tighter this way.”

He wrapped one arm around her waist, keeping her flush against him as he explored her stomach and breasts with the other. The more he pounded into her, the more aroused he became. There was something primal about taking her this way, in front of the window with the city beneath them and the moon above them. It was the two of them. Everything else faded into the background. All he could hear were her labored breaths and occasional moans.

When he opened his eyes, he caught a glimpse of her in the reflection of the glass. Her eyes were closed and her mouth slightly parted as she gave into his desires.

He sat back on his heels, pulling her with him to settle on his lap. At first, she was clumsy and tense, but once she found her rhythm in this new position, he couldn’t slow her down. Rocking her hips hard against his stomach, she cried out.

“That’s it, ride me. Let me watch as you come.” He thrust upward, letting her feel all of him. She tossed her head back, resting it on his shoulder as she looked up at him.

“Kiss me,” she whispered. “I want you to kiss me when I come.”

As soon as he pressed his lips to hers, a thrush of warmth shot threw him, sending him spiraling. As he came into the condom, he moved his hand up to her throat, holding her in place as he poured everything into that kiss.

The pounding between his ears drowned out anything else. His eyes rolled into the back of his head, and for a few seconds he felt light and carefree. Total bliss. When he opened his eyes, she was staring up at him with those gorgeous brown orbs. She looked spent. Her hair was tangled and her makeup smudged, but she was the most stunning creature he’d ever seen. In that moment, basking in the afterglow of one of the most spectacular sexual interactions he’d ever experienced, he knew. There was never going to be anyone else. Not ever.

“Sammy.” He stroked her neck before tracing his fingers over her swollen lips. He’d kissed her harder than usual. “That was the best for me. Hands down.”

“Me too.” She laughed, but it came out as a throaty giggle. “You’re the best.”

“No, you don’t understand.” He lifted her off of him and turned her to face him. She rested on her knees, waiting for him to speak. “It’s never been that good for me, because I’ve never felt this way about anyone before you.”

“I know what you mean.” She took his face between her hands and kissed him. “You’re my only, but I’ve never felt this deeply about anyone before. There’s a reason I was in that hotel that night, Tyler. I thought it was for something else, but now I know.”

“What do you mean?” He trailed his lips along her jaw. “What do you know?”

“It happened the way it was supposed to.”

“Of course it did.” He laughed. “You’re not making any sense.”

“I need you to know.” She kissed him. “You’re everything to me. I’ve been alone for so long. I never thought I’d find someone like you. I’ve sheltered myself because that’s how I was raised.”

“You’re not ever going to be alone again.” He lifted her hand to his mouth, gently kissing each finger. “I’m certain of that.”

“I love you,” she whispered.

He froze, because no woman had ever said that to him except for his mother. He liked the way it sounded coming from Sammy.

“I didn’t say it because I need to hear it.” The smile on her face was relaxed. Like always, she appeared unassuming, never expecting anything in return. “I said it because I wanted you to hear it. I needed you to know.”

“Say it again.” He swiped his mouth along her jaw and to her ear. “I want to hear it again.”

“I love you.”

Making sure his kiss was soft and tender, he wanted her to feel what he felt. He needed her to know how much her emotions were reciprocated.

She sighed as he pulled away. “Now I need you to hear what I have to say.”

She nodded.
