“Your submission is only mine if you give it to me. I can’t steal it.”

Martin held a black, satin scarf in his hands. Kayla gazed down at it and then back to him “I want to bind your hands behind your back, not to the cross. It will help with your posture. A proper stance. Is that acceptable to you?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Julian smiled with pride as he took in her silky flesh and long legs. He shifted in his seat, wishing he were the one commanding her tonight. One session, he thought. He could tolerate Martin taking total control tonight. It would benefit Kayla in the future. Julian planned to reap from those benefits. He sat back and observed not just Kayla, but Martin as well. From this vantage point, he could gauge what Kayla liked and didn’t. He could understand her actions from a completely different point of view.

Martin dangledthe scarf in front of Kayla. She pushed her shoulders back and stood perfectly still as he trailed the silk up her stomach and between her breasts. She held back a giggle and resisted the urge to stare into Julian’s eyes when she recalled the first day she went to Julian’s penthouse and he wanted to restrain her. She had been so afraid. Martin hadn’t given her specific instructions on where she should look. She did note the riding crop on the side table and she didn’t want to give him an excuse to use it.

“Hands behind your back, precious one.” Martin’s voice was low and smooth. “Where are we?”

“Umm, in your playroom.” She placed her hands behind her back as she continued to gaze at the floor.

“We are.” He laughed, catching her off guard. “Let me rephrase.”

The sweat had already begun to cover her palms and they hadn’t done anything yet.

“Give me a color.”

“Oh.” She quietly giggled. “Green.”

“Good.” He stepped closer, swiping her hair to the side and brushing his fingertips along her throat. “Tonight, I’d like to work on your ability to follow directions.” He moved behind her, securing her hands behind her back. “If at any time you don’t like what I’m doing, or if you don’t understand, you need to use the appropriate safe word. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“What will you say if you need me to slow down?” He came to stand in front of her, reaching for the riding crop.

“Yellow, Sir.”

“Very good.” He slapped the crop into his palm, causing her to jump. “And if you need me to stop?”

“Red.”

“Red, what?”

“Red, Sir.”

“Consider that your only warning.”

Focus. Martin is more intimidating than Julian. Martin does not have a soft spot when it comes to training. Martin is not Julian. Remember that.

“During this particular exercise, you may look into my eyes. I encourage you to do so.”

She raised her head, meeting his emerald gaze. Their light moment of a few seconds ago was over. He was in Dominant mode now. Any missteps on her part would not be forgiven.

“At times, it will get intense between us. If you continue to concentrate, eventually your actions will become natural for you.” He circled the leather around her hipbone. “That’s one of the things your Dominant wants for you. You shouldn’t have to think all the time. The uncertainty will fade away.”

He backed up, creating some space between them, but never removing his gaze from hers. She wanted to cower, look away, but how could she admit the scene was already too intense? He’d tell them to leave. That she wasn’t ready for his expertise. She wanted to be ready to give Julian what he needed.

“You’re not going to vocalize unless I ask you something. Of course, that doesn’t apply if you have to safe word. You’re always able to safe word.”

Concentrate, look into his eyes, and don’t speak. I can do this.

“Take a calming breath, look over my shoulder and focus on Julian,” Martin instructed. “If you can remember why you’re here, you can let go of the fear. You’ll learn to do what you have to do.”

She inhaled and softly exhaled as she connected with Julian’s encouraging eyes. They held so much faith in her. He smiled and nodded at her.
