“I needed to be with you,” he admitted. “More than I thought I did.”

“Rough day?”

He nodded.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

He stared out into the dark foyer, contemplating his words. Now wasn’t the time to tell her what he’d experienced tonight. Not after he’d just taken her so savagely against the front door.

“No, I don’t.”

“Okay.” She fidgeted with her hands, a tic he hadn’t seen her display in a while.

“I appreciate you wanting to listen, but I don’t want to spoil our time together with something that isn’t important.”Someone who is completely irrelevant to me.“I want to spend the rest of the night getting lost in you. I need you to make me forget my day. Can you do that?”

“I can do whatever you need me to do.” She cuddled into his chest. “We don’t have to talk at all.”

“I want to talk.” He stroked her hair, finally feeling settled. “I didn’t even ask you how your day was.”

“It was good.” She draped her arms over his shoulders. “Uneventful until now.”

“Was your train late?”

“No.” She shifted so she could look at him. “I went to the club.”

“Master M’s?”

“Well, not Sapphire, since the last time I went there without you I got in trouble.”

Julian recalled that evening well. It had been the only time he had ever punished her. He wondered if it was time to remind her of the rules again.

“What makes you think going to Master M’s without me wouldn’t get you into trouble?” He held out his hand. “Do you need my palm against your ass?”

“I didn’t go inside,” she said. “I don’t know how I ended up there. I think I was just missing our time together. The bond we’ve been forming inside there. The time we’re spending with Mart—him.”

“So you just stood outside?”

“Yeah. I miss you. I miss us.” She sighed. “I’m not being selfish. I’m not asking you to not do your job. I just wanted you to know how much you’re on my mind. The club makes me feel close to you. I’m silly.”

“No, you’re not.” He kissed the top of her head. “I have been working a lot lately. The way we just were together tells me we need some time with Martin. Your response to my actions proved we need more time exploring our cravings.”

They made love on a daily basis. Some nights, he would come home and she would be asleep. He’d steal a kiss and she’d open her eyes and that was all they needed to get going. Those moments were soft and tender and he wouldn’t trade that time with her, but they needed more. That was who they were. How they understood one another. They needed the lifestyle.

“I’ll schedule a session with Martin.”

“We can wait until your work schedule settles down. I don’t want to add any stress for you.”

“Playing with you.” He kissed her. “Watching you grow into your submission would be a stress reliever.”

“Can we play tonight?” She tugged on his tie. “You mentioned something about bondage and clamps.”

“If you’re up for some light play, I don’t see why we can’t accommodate your request.” He ran his finger along her throat. “Let’s go upstairs and see what we can come up with.”

“In the forbidden room?” She kissed him. “On the new table?”

“I like the way you think.”
