“It’s all part of the journey.” Julian tucked her hair behind her ear. “Tonight is whatever you want it to be.”

“It will be a very relaxed environment.” Master M took her chin between his fingers, holding her face still and focusing on her quivering lips. “Do you have any questions?”

“Do you have a playroom?” Of all the questions she could have asked, somehow that one made it past her lips.

“Here?” He grinned, rather mischievously, she thought. “Yes, an elaborate one, but I don’t have any plans to use it tonight. Perhaps a tour tomorrow.”

When he leaned closer to her, she forgot about the playroom. Julian ran his fingers down her neck as Master M brushed his lips along her jaw. “I’ve made a reservation for the three of us to have dinner. I thought some conversation and a good bottle of champagne might help before we embark on this fantasy of yours.”

Dinner? He wanted to eat and talk? Weren’t they past that?

“I’ve had the guest bedroom prepared for you both.” He stroked her cheek. “There’s something hanging in the closet for you to wear to dinner.” He took her hand in his, kissing her knuckles. “Try to relax.” He smiled. “I realize I intimidate you, but we’re going to focus on pleasure.” He stood from the sofa. “I’m going to get ready. I’ll meet you both in the foyer in an hour.”

“We’ll be ready,” Julian said as he stared into Kayla’s eyes.

Ready for tonight? Was that possible?

Dinner wasquiet and strangely comforting. Master M had selected a cozy, eloquent French restaurant not far from his home. He must have frequented it often, because the staff was accommodating and attentive, but respected their privacy and only approached when it was necessary. When they had first arrived, Kayla was anxious and didn’t know how she would make it through dinner. How could she eat knowing when they got back to Master M’s house they would...

“You’re fidgeting.” Julian came up from behind her and folded his arms around her waist as she gazed out of the guest bedroom window. “I thought you’d gotten over your nerves during dinner. You were talkative and relaxed.”

“Dinner was great.” She slipped off her shoes before turning in his arms. “I enjoyed getting to know him outside of the playroom.”

“We won’t be in the playroom tonight.” He kissed her jaw. “We’ll keep it as relaxed as you need. I want you to enjoy this.”

“You’re really okay with this?” She loosened his tie. “Nothing will change between us after, right?”

“Is that what you’re worried about?”

“Part of me is.”

“Nothing will change.” He kissed her softly, igniting a slow burn deep inside her. “I promise.”

“Starting without me?” Master M stood in the doorway. He’d changed out of his suit, into his playroom attire. Faded jeans and a black t-shirt, and his feet were bare. He held a champagne bottle and one glass.

“Just getting my fill before I have to share her.” Julian let go of Kayla and took off his suit jacket, placing it neatly on the back of the chair by the door before removing his shoes and socks.

“Am I the only one who is drinking?” She pointed at the solitary glass.

“For now.” Master M entered the room and placed the glass on the nightstand. “I’d like to keep my wits about me, and I’m sure Julian feels the same way.”

“It’s probably a good idea.” Julian took off his watch and placed his phone on the dresser.

“I won’t need my wits?” She jumped when Master M popped the cork on the bottle.

“I find you’re much calmer when you have a drink or two,” he said. “You have a few nervous tics that distract me. If you were my submissive, I would have corrected those by now.” He arched a brow at Julian. “We can work on that.”

She recalled the night she had dinner with Julian at Sapphire before they were a couple. She’d had too much to drink and found herself wanting much more than she could handle with Julian. The champagne had relaxed her the same way it allowed her to lower her inhibitions tonight at dinner.

“Of course no one wants you incoherent. I want you fully capable of making your own choices.” Master M handed her the glass. “No regrets.”

“None.” She sipped her drink as Julian took a seat in the chair he had so meticulously hung his jacket over.

“There’s one more thing I need to say before we begin.” When Master M moved toward her, she fought the urge to retreat to Julian’s lap. “Since we’re not following all the rules tonight and we’re not in my club, I’m going to lift the restriction of the use of my name. I know it makes you uncomfortable to call me Master M. I don’t want you to have to think about what comes out of your mouth. I just need you to be yourself.”

“Thank you, Sir.” She licked her lips. “I’ll do my best to respect your initial wishes, but knowing I don’t have to concentrate on not using your name will make this a little easier for me.”
