“How about we spend the rest of the day riding? I’ll take you down some of my favorite roads. The scenery is great this time of year,” I tell her, practically holding my breath and crossing my fingers. I don’t care how desperate I sound; I just hope she says yes.

“What about school?” she questions innocently. I smirk at her as she turns her eyes toward me again. I’m instantly captivated, and I know I’d do just about anything for this girl. I already know I’m in this deep, and I don’t care. My brothers are really going to be a bunch of gossips, like the old biddies they are, when they find out. I’m really not looking forward to any of that, but I’ll deal with anything for Rissa.

“I’ve got all my credits, and I could graduate now if I wanted. If you really need to get back, I’ll spend the rest of the day watching you paint. It’s sexy as fuck,” I tell her, feeling a smile form on my face. For the first time, I feel like I finally got a reaction out of her. She ducks her head again, but not before I see the blush on her cheeks.

“I don’t have to be back. I was ahead of schedule before someone ruined my work in progress. It won’t take me long to catch back up,” she tells me, and somehow, I know she’s lying. I saw the devastation and worry on her face when she looked at her painting.

For now, I’ll let it slide, but I’ll make sure she gets her work done after today. Right now, I really want to feel her arms wrapped tightly around me from the back of my bike. Fuck, I really need to stop this train of thought because it’s getting me hard. The last thing I need to do is scare her away because she sees the monster trapped behind my jeans.

“If you're sure? I don’t want to put you further behind,” I say, finishing my burger and fries as Rissa finishes hers.

“I could use a bit of a break,” she replies shyly with a shrug. I pick up our trash, then grab her hand again, leading her back to my bike. Damn, this girl just feels perfect with any part of her body touching mine. I never thought I would get turned on by just holding a girl’s hand until Rissa.

I jump on the bike and help her with the plugs and buckle her helmet before she climbs on.

“Any specific time you need to be back?” I ask, not wanting her to get in trouble with her parents.

“Nope, usually I spend all afternoon and night in the art room at school. My parents don’t wait up for me,” she tells me, sliding her hands around my waist.

God, her touch feels amazing, and I’m already addicted to it. Not wanting to get lost in her touch, I back out of the diner and head toward some of the old country roads I like to take. I get lost in thoughts about Rissa and her life compared to mine. It seems her life is just about as lonely as mine. I hate that for her, wanting her to have a loving family who may not know everything about her but at least loves and supports her. Maybe, though, that’s something only I can give to her.

I hold on to that last thought hard, so I can make it grow. With our future ahead of us and Rissa by my side, we ride off down the country roads. Wind in our hair, her arms tight around my waist, the sun setting on the horizon, for once I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
