Ian threw Isaac into the wall and turned to me. He hisses at me, making me jump, and Isaac tackled him just as he was about to pounce on me.

When I finally got to the door, I heard Ian screeching in pain. Isaac's arm was in his gut, and he looked up at me. I stepped back through the door. I wasn't looking at Isaac anymore. I could see the hunger in his eyes, the ravenous beast he warned me about.

I ran.

I ran with everything I had, stumbling through the dirty and trash-littered halls while Isaac and Ian continued to fight, their tussling, hissing, and growls traveling through the air to me. When Ian screamed his brother's name, and it sounded like a bulldozer was coming behind me, I fought the urge to look back.

I continued running, tears blurring my vision. I knew it wasn’t Ian but Isaac chasing me.

I heard fighting again when I got to a staircase and threw myself down it, scrambling over the trash and crap.

“Marian!” I heard Isaac shout, a plea in his voice, and I stopped at the bottom of the stairs, but instead of Isaac, Ian appeared.

He smiled, and I backed up to the door I hoped was an exit. All the windows were covered, so I had no idea if I had another staircase to find to get out.

“Where are you going?” Ian stepped onto the stairs. “Stay with me, Marian. I’ll show you things you never thought were possible.”

My fists clenched. "No thanks, but you should turn around.”

Ian turned and faced Isaac, who'd appeared behind him without a sound. Isaac looked like the devil, a demon, a terrifying beast, and my stomach dropped. I did this to him?

“You’re going to have to settle with me, Brother,” Isaac hissed, his mouth curving with the most chilling smile. “And I can’t guarantee it’s going to be fun.”
