“Know for sure? Just now, on the porch.” He laughed. “Why, when didyouknow?”

“Looking back, I think I knew it when I met you.”

She gasped again. “Really?”

“Really. You drove me crazy from the first minute, but in the best way.” He kissed her again. “This week was hell.”

“It was, and I’m sorry.”

“It takes two, Emilia. But what changed?”

“Well, I just had lunch with Mia and she found out the person who got accepted into the course I applied for got in because of her uncle, who’s on the applications board. So I never stood a chance.”

“Well, that’s fucked.”

Emilia threw her head back and laughed. “It is fucked. You’re right. It’s totally fucked up, but it’s also good.”

“Because you can apply again and you know they’d probably take you.”

“Exactly, but I’m not going to apply again.”

“You’re not?”

“No, if the offer’s still on the table, I would love to come and work with you.”

“Of course the offer’s still open,” he pulled her in, pressing his body close to hers and leaning down and giving her a long, deep kiss. “We can talk about that next week, if you like.”

“We’re not going to be talking about it now?”

He rained kisses down her neck, leaving her breathless. “We’re definitely not going to talk about it now,” he said, pressing himself against her to emphasize his point.

“But I have so many ideas,” she teased.

“Emilia?”

“Mmmm?”

“Shush.”

She moaned when his hand came up to fondle her breast. “Cam?”

“Mmm?”

“I love you,” the words slipped off her tongue like she’d spent her whole life practicing them. He pulled back, looking at her.

“I love you, too,” and before she could say anything else, he swept her up and carried her to the bedroom, where he showed her exactly how much.
