“I mean…” Meadow bit her bottom lip. “I don’t know what I mean. I know that I don’t have daddy issues though, but I liked what happened out there.”

“You mean when I spanked you for scaring me?” I asked, turning toward her.

“Yeah.” She ran her hands down her thighs. Up. Down. A shaky laugh left her. “I’ve never been nervous about talking before.” She cleared her throat, taking a deep breath. “I like that you want to take care of me and protect me from the monsters lurking under my bed.”

My body stirred. “I’m not into the Daddy Dom/baby girl dynamic but calling youbaby girlseems natural. Taking care of you. Touching you. Keeping you safe. It’s all natural. I don’t know why, when we hardly know you. But I want to get to know you, Meadow. I want more.”

“And so do I,” Shade said, sitting forward. He reached out and brushed his hand down her arm.

Meadow turned her body toward us, lifting her knee onto the seat. “I want that too. I like that you talk to me and you don’t treat me like a kid. I know I’m younger than you. I get that. And I don’t have a lot of life experience yet, but I will. My parents raised us to be able to take care of ourselves if something ever happened to them. I can even change a flat tire by myself and stop a leak. My brother taught me that part.”

“Good.” I chuckled. “I don’t want you to have to depend on us, but I do like being there for you when you need it.”

She gave me a small smile. “I know. That’s why I called you when Tanner showed up. He creeps me out.”

“It’s funny because he actually does some decent stuff.” I started up the car.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“He loves animals. His crew actually stopped a dog fighting ring. But I think that was more his call and his crew just went along with it. It fucks with your head though. Because on one hand, he’d do anything to bring those who hurt animals to justice but then on the other, he’d have no issues killing a human.” Shade sat back. “It’s fucked up.”

“He hates humans basically,” Meadow added.

“Something like that. Animals have never crossed him.” I didn’t know Tanner’s whole history, but Ididknow that something happened, and he lost all faith in humanity. I wasn’t even sure he trusted his crew half the time. He probably just kept them at his side so he knew where they were at all times.

“He wants me to stop by his clubhouse.”

My head whipped around. “Excuse me?”

Meadow shrugged like it was no big deal. “Oh, come on, Sunny. I’m not actually going to go. I have nothing that he wants.”

“What did he say to you?” Shade asked, his voice calm while I was wired up tight. Always the calm one.

I put the car into gear and drove us home. Needing to keep my mind occupied for fear I would lash out, drive over to Tanner’s, and knock him the fuck out.

“He just said that he wanted me to stop by his club and that if I didn’t, he would show up at the center. Do you think he would make good on his threat? Because I really don’t want to go to his club.” She shivered. “He bothers me.”

I cupped her inner thigh. “You won’t be going to his club. Not without us at least.”

“Okay.” Meadow covered my hand. “Are you guys good?”

I met Shade’s gaze in the rearview mirror.

He winked.

I coughed.

“What? Tell me,” she demanded. “I want all the dirty details.”

Somehow, I knew she wasn’t kidding.

Sunny and I had a lot to work through, but he was right. I enjoyed taking care of Meadow too. When she called, needing us, it stirred something inside of me I had never felt before. It made the alpha in me roar. Although I submitted to her in every sense of the word, I reveled in dominating her just the same.

“Did you two talk at least?” Meadow asked.
